An always-on schedule alone is not listed by YouTube as a reason Super Chat is unavailable. Check your channel’s eligibility and Supers settings, restrictions on the specific livestream, the creator’s and viewer’s locations, and whether viewers are watching on YouTube rather than in an embedded player. The exact cause depends on those account, stream, location, and viewing details.
1. Check channel eligibility and turn on Supers
Super Chat requires an eligible channel. YouTube’s published requirements include participation in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), being at least 18, being in a location where the feature is available, and complying with the applicable terms. The feature must also be enabled for the channel. See YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility guidance and YouTube Partner Program overview and eligibility.
- Open YouTube Studio and select Earn.
- Look for the Supers tab or card. If it is missing or says the channel is ineligible, review YPP participation, age, creator location, and any channel-specific eligibility notices.
- Review and accept the applicable Commerce Product Module or legacy Addendum if Studio prompts you to do so.
- Confirm Super Chat is enabled. If the channel is eligible but the control is off, enabling it is necessary for viewers to use the feature.
YouTube’s requirements and Studio interface can change; use the current notices in Studio and the linked Help pages for your account’s status.

A channel can be eligible while a particular broadcast is not. YouTube says Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. They are also unavailable if live chat or comments are turned off. Review the settings on the affected stream, not only the channel’s general settings. YouTube lists these video-level exclusions in its Supers guidance.

- Check the stream’s visibility: it should not be unlisted or private if you want Super Chat on it.
- Check whether the stream is age-restricted.
- Check the audience designation and whether it is marked Made for Kids.
- Check whether the broadcast is associated with a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- Confirm live chat and comments are enabled for the stream.
3. Ask viewers to open the YouTube watch page
Have an affected viewer open the livestream directly on YouTube, rather than watching it in an embedded player on another site. YouTube’s guidance says live chat is available on YouTube watch pages, not embedded players. This is a useful test when the option is missing for some viewers but appears for others. 4. Check creator and viewer locations
Availability depends on geography. YouTube publishes a list of locations where creators can use Supers, and location-specific restrictions may also affect monetization features or viewers. Compare the creator’s location and the affected viewers’ locations against YouTube’s current guidance: Super Chat availability and YouTube’s Supers location information. If the channel and stream settings appear correct but the feature remains unavailable, check the current Studio notice or contact Creator Support; public guidance cannot identify an account-specific restriction.

5. Understand the payout only after availability is fixed
YouTube Help says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees are deducted. YouTube says it currently covers transaction costs, including credit card fees. This payout share describes revenue handling; it does not establish why a viewer cannot send a Super Chat.
