A 24/7 broadcast is not, by itself, a documented reason that YouTube disables gifted channel memberships. YouTube describes membership gifting as available during a live stream or Premiere when the channel has gifting enabled. The cause is more likely to be channel eligibility or settings, live chat, the viewer’s account or opt-in status, or a country-verification error. India’s recurring-membership payment guidance is not evidence of a blanket ban on gifting.
First, check which kind of gift you mean
YouTube has distinct features that may both be described as “gifts.” Gifted channel memberships are one-month access to a channel’s membership perks, purchased through live chat during a live stream or Premiere. Jewels or virtual-items Gifts are a separate feature. Their availability rules and country information should not be treated as rules for channel membership gifting.
If you mean membership gifts, use the checks below. If the interface says Jewels or virtual items, check the separate eligibility guidance for that feature instead.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCheck the channel’s membership eligibility and gifting setup
Memberships are available only to eligible channels. YouTube says an eligible creator must turn on the feature and accept the Commerce Product Module; the Memberships tab appears only when the channel is eligible. If memberships are paused because of monetization or policy status, the Join button can disappear.

- Creating streaming and vlog content is a big part of social media. Therefore, it is really important to enlarge your fans, wear these when you are filming to remind your audience how to support you.
- Get more views, likes and subscriptions with this tee.
- Lightweight, Classic fit, Double-needle sleeve and bottom hem
- In YouTube Studio, check whether the channel has access to memberships and whether the feature is active.
- Confirm that the channel has accepted the Commerce Product Module.
- Check Studio notifications and monetization status for a policy issue or paused-memberships notice.
- Confirm gifting is enabled for the channel. YouTube’s gifting instructions require a channel with gifting enabled.
Creator eligibility and activation are separate from whether a particular viewer can buy or receive a gift.
Check live chat and the viewer’s account
Membership gifting takes place in live chat, so verify that live chat is available on the broadcast and that the viewer is signed in and can access the gifting flow. A viewer who wants to receive gifts must opt in. YouTube specifies that the viewer must use a non-Brand Account, subscribe to the channel, and have interacted with it recently. Existing channel members are not eligible to receive a gifted membership.

- Ask the viewer to confirm that they opted in to receive gifts for the channel.
- Have them check that they are using a signed-in, non-Brand Account.
- Confirm they subscribe to the channel and have interacted with it recently.
- If the viewer is already a channel member, they cannot receive a gifted membership under YouTube’s current guidance.
Do not apply every rule for Jewels or virtual-items Gifts to membership gifting. YouTube lists conditions such as age restriction, an unlisted or private stream, Made for Kids status, a YouTube Giving fundraiser, and disabled chat or comments for the virtual-items feature; those conditions do not automatically establish why membership gifting is unavailable.

Resolve a country-verification or payment error
If YouTube displays “We couldn’t verify your country,” its billing guidance recommends trying another network or device and turning off any VPN or proxy. A location-verification problem can prevent gifting options from appearing, so test without VPN or proxy and on a different connection before changing other settings.

YouTube also documents India-specific RBI eMandate requirements that may require payment details to be verified or re-entered to maintain recurring channel memberships. That is guidance about recurring membership payments, not a statement that viewers in India are barred from buying gifted memberships. If the error concerns a recurring payment, follow YouTube’s prompt to verify or re-enter the payment details; do not assume that this explains every gifting failure in India.
A 24/7 stream’s archive is a separate issue
YouTube says it may automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours and warns, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” That concerns whether the broadcast is saved as an archive. The archive guidance does not say that a stream longer than 12 hours disables membership gifting while the broadcast is live.

Use this order to narrow down the cause
- Identify the feature: confirm the option is for channel membership gifts, not Jewels or virtual-items Gifts.
- Check the channel: confirm memberships are eligible, active, and not paused, and that gifting is enabled.
- Check the broadcast: verify that live chat is available.
- Check the viewer: confirm they are signed in with a non-Brand Account, opted in, subscribed, recently active on the channel, and not already a member.
- Address location errors: if country verification fails, try another network or device and disable VPN or proxy.
- Separate payment maintenance from gifting: if the issue is an India recurring-payment prompt, follow YouTube’s eMandate and payment-detail instructions rather than treating it as a gifting ban.
If all checks pass but the option remains unavailable, note the exact error text and whether the problem affects the creator’s channel or only one viewer. Those details help distinguish channel eligibility, viewer eligibility, and billing or location verification issues. YouTube’s published guidance does not document a specific 24/7-duration rule for membership gifts, so the channel’s precise cause cannot be determined from stream length alone.
