There is no VPN that can be guaranteed to work with Disney+ every time. Reviewers’ results vary, and Disney lists VPN or IP-anonymizer use as one possible cause of Error 73. In 2026 comparisons, NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Proton VPN, Private Internet Access, and CyberGhost are options to assess; the right choice depends on the reviewer’s test, your devices, and current plan terms.
Which VPN works with Disney Plus in 2026?
Independent reviews do not produce one definitive winner. Top10VPN’s guide, updated August 13, 2026, says it tested 59 VPNs and ranks NordVPN fastest and ExpressVPN easiest to use. Security.org’s separate 2026 comparison ranks NordVPN first and reports different connection results. These are each publisher’s findings, not guarantees for your account, device, location, or a future session.

NordVPN
Security.org ranked NordVPN first in its 2026 comparison and recorded 7 successful test connections out of 10. Top10VPN named it the fastest option in its own guide. Those labels reflect the reviewers’ evaluations; they do not establish that every server is fastest or will connect to Disney+ for you.
ExpressVPN
Top10VPN identified ExpressVPN as the most user-friendly option in its 2026 guide. Security.org ranked it fifth and reported 6 successful connections out of 10 in its comparison. ExpressVPN’s own Disney Plus guidance suggests changing server locations, updating apps, clearing the Disney+ app cache, or contacting its support. These are provider suggestions, not Disney’s official troubleshooting instructions.

Disney’s Error Code 73 help page, dated February 17, 2026, lists access from an unsupported country or region and VPN or IP-anonymizer use among possible causes. A VPN can fail when Disney detects an IP address or location mismatch. Disney recommends using the service from a supported region, disabling the VPN or anonymizer if applicable, checking the internet connection, and restarting the device or app.

Disney’s specific instruction is: “If you are attempting to use a VPN or similar method to access Disney+, disable it and restart the app.” A VPN does not change which countries Disney+ officially supports, and a successful connection in one review does not override Disney’s regional availability.

How to choose a VPN for your setup
- Check the exact test scope. Look for the review date, regions or servers tested, and whether a claim applies to selected servers or a wider network. The cited comparisons are independent snapshots, not a standardized head-to-head test.
- Match device support to your TV. Top10VPN lists Fire TV Stick, Android TV, and Apple TV compatibility for the apps it discusses. Confirm current app availability for your particular device. An Amazon Fire TV Stick is one supported platform, not a required model or a fix for VPN blocking.
- Compare speed and usability separately. A reviewer’s speed or ease-of-use designation is not a promise of streaming quality on your connection. Check the details behind the judgment and whether the app supports your device.
- Read the full subscription terms. Prices, billing periods, renewal rates, trial eligibility, refund conditions, and server access can change. Confirm the current offer and the amount charged at renewal before subscribing; the cited evidence does not establish durable live prices.
- Choose for your broader use, too. Protecting traffic on public Wi-Fi and changing your apparent region are distinct goals. Do not treat a VPN’s privacy claims as evidence that it will reliably access a particular streaming service.
What to try when a VPN connection fails
- Follow Disney’s Error 73 steps first: check that Disney+ is available in your region, disable the VPN or IP anonymizer if relevant, test your internet connection, and restart the app or device.
- If you continue troubleshooting the VPN, try another server and make sure the VPN and Disney+ apps are up to date. Clearing the Disney+ app cache is also suggested by ExpressVPN, but it is provider guidance rather than an official Disney instruction.
- Recheck the result without assuming it will persist. A different server or app state may help, but Disney can still identify an IP or location mismatch. If Error 73 remains, use Disney’s official support guidance rather than treating access as guaranteed.
