Some Samsung Galaxy phones and accessories can charge wirelessly, but support depends on the exact model. Samsung’s US support guidance lists selected Galaxy S, Note, and Z phones as compatible and says Galaxy A, XCover, and Tab devices are not compatible with wireless charging. Those are regional support examples, not a worldwide catalog, so check the model number and your country’s Samsung support page before choosing a charger.

A wireless charging pad sends power to a compatible device. Wireless PowerShare works in the other direction: a compatible Galaxy phone acts as the power source for another device. The two features have different compatibility rules.

Which Samsung phones support wireless charging?

Samsung’s US guidance identifies selected models in its Galaxy S, Note, and Z families as supporting wireless charging. It does not establish that every model in those families is compatible. The same US guidance says: “Galaxy A series, XCover series, and Galaxy Tab series devices are not compatible with wireless charging.” Check your exact model rather than relying on its family name.

Newer foldables are among the specifically named compatible devices: Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE are Qi compatible and support fast wireless charging with a compatible charger. Availability and specifications can vary by model and region; consult your local Samsung support information for a definitive answer.

Wireless charging pad vs. Wireless PowerShare

Feature What it does What to check
Wireless charging pad Charges a compatible phone or accessory from the pad. Confirm that the exact device supports wireless charging and that the charger is compatible.
Wireless PowerShare Lets a compatible Galaxy phone supply power wirelessly to another device. Confirm that the phone supports PowerShare and that the receiving device is supported; compatibility can differ by accessory and region.

Samsung’s Canadian PowerShare guide, updated August 26, 2026, describes support on Galaxy S20 series and later, Z Flip2 and later, and Z Fold2 and later, as well as selected older models. This is regional guidance, and settings and supported devices may vary. A phone that can receive wireless power is not automatically able to send it.

Can a Samsung phone charge a Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds?

Galaxy Watch

Samsung’s US watch guidance says some newer Qi-supporting watch models can charge through Wireless PowerShare, but specifically excludes the Galaxy Watch7, Watch Ultra, and Watch8 series. A watch’s ability to charge on its own wireless charger does not establish that it can charge from a phone. Galaxy Fit bands require their charging cradle.

Galaxy Buds

Samsung says the listed Galaxy Buds models can charge in their case on a Qi-compatible pad or through Wireless PowerShare. Samsung’s guidance does not extend this wireless charging option to Gear IconX. Check the exact Buds model and case before relying on a pad or phone-sharing feature.

How to get a wireless charge started

  1. Confirm compatibility. Check the exact phone or accessory model against Samsung support for your region. For a pad, verify that the device can receive wireless charging; for PowerShare, verify that the Galaxy phone can share and that the receiving device is supported.
  2. Position it carefully. Center the device on the pad with its back in contact with the charger. For PowerShare, align the two devices’ backs; poor alignment can prevent charging.
  3. Close a foldable. Samsung recommends placing a compatible foldable closed, with its back against the pad.
  4. Check the case and accessories. A thick phone case or other accessory may block charging. Remove the case if charging does not begin.

Why might Wireless PowerShare not work?

  • The devices may not work together. Qi support alone does not guarantee every device pairing will work, according to Samsung’s Canadian troubleshooting guidance.
  • The sharing phone may have too little battery. Samsung says an unplugged phone below 30% battery will not turn PowerShare on.
  • Alignment or a case may interfere. Reposition the devices and remove a case or accessory that could block the connection.
  • The receiver may be excluded or need a cradle. Check accessory-specific limits, including Samsung’s listed watch exclusions and the charging-cradle requirement for Galaxy Fit bands.

How to choose a charger

A Qi-compatible pad is a reasonable option for a Samsung phone confirmed to support wireless charging. Verify the exact model first, then check the charger’s own compatibility information. Do not assume an unspecified pad will work with every Galaxy device or deliver a particular charging speed; Samsung’s guidance ties fast wireless charging on the named Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE to use of a compatible charger.
