Yes—DDC-I’s Deos RTOS lists ARINC Specification 653 Part 4 as an optional module. That is a vendor-stated support claim, not proof that a particular Deos release has passed a Part 4 conformity test or holds Part 4-specific certification. The available Wind River VxWorks 653 material describes ARINC 653 support generally but does not explicitly confirm Part 4.
What ARINC 653 Part 4 covers
ARINC 653 defines an Application/Executive (APEX) interface between avionics core software and application software. Part 4 is titled Subset Services: it defines a true subset of the services in Part 1, rather than every feature in the ARINC 653 family. SAE’s Part 4 listing is dated June 1, 2012. SAE: ARINC653P4, Part 4: Subset Services
SAE describes the subset as prepared for controllers and relatively simple avionics. Its constraints include a single partition time window within each partition period and a dual-process model that permits no more than two processes per partition. Whether those constraints fit an intended system is as important as whether an RTOS advertises support.
Part 0 places Part 4 within a broader standards family that also includes Part 1 Required Services, Parts 3A and 3B conformity test specifications, and Part 5 Core Software Recommended Capabilities. SAE’s Part 0-4 listing is dated December 1, 2025; that is a listing date, not evidence that every related document was revised then. SAE: ARINC653P0-4, Overview of ARINC 653

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Which RTOS support claims are documented?
| RTOS | What the cited material says | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| DDC-I Deos | DDC-I says Deos supports ARINC 653 APEX and lists “ARINC Specification 653 Part 4” as an optional module. DDC-I: Deos RTOS Software | The cited pages do not identify the exact release, service-by-service coverage, or Part 4-specific conformity-test evidence. DDC-I: FACE Conformant RTOS |
| Wind River VxWorks 653 | Vendor material describes the product as enabling ARINC 653-compliant applications in an IMA architecture. Collins Aerospace / Rockwell Collins: Multi-core certification white paper | The cited material does not explicitly identify Part 4, so it is not enough to verify a Part 4 implementation. |
These are documented claims, not a like-for-like comparison. The cited sources do not provide Part 4-specific conformity evidence for either product.
How to evaluate a Part 4 support claim
- Pin down the standard claim. Ask which ARINC 653 part, supplement, and edition the vendor supports; “ARINC 653” alone does not identify Part 4.
- Check the service subset and constraints. Confirm the included APEX services and whether the implementation meets Part 4’s single-window scheduling and two-process-per-partition limits for the intended system.
- Match the claim to your configuration. Request the exact RTOS release and hardware target covered, and identify any services supplied as optional modules.
- Request verification artifacts. Ask whether conformity testing, certification evidence, or another independent verification covers the precise Part 4 claim, release, and target. A product-page feature listing does not establish that evidence.
In an ARINC 653 runtime, the RTOS can allocate resources to partitions, schedule partitions in a repeating system schedule, and manage process states and priority-preemptive scheduling within partitions. Those general runtime functions do not by themselves demonstrate conformance to Part 4’s specific service constraints.
