The best laptop with a fingerprint reader depends on your work, budget, display needs, and portability preferences—and on whether the exact configuration you buy actually includes the sensor. Lenovo’s ThinkPad T14 Gen 6 and Dell’s Latitude 7450 and 7455 are business-laptop families with documented fingerprint-reader options or features, but availability varies by model and configuration. Check the precise regional SKU before purchasing.
Which laptops have a fingerprint reader?
Windows Hello can use a fingerprint to sign in, but the laptop must have a fingerprint reader. A model-family name alone does not guarantee that feature: manufacturers may offer it only on selected configurations or in certain regions.
Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 6
Lenovo lists an optional match-on-chip fingerprint reader integrated into the power button for ThinkPad T14 Gen 6 configurations. Its Intel configuration page labels the reader optional, while the AMD page notes that availability varies by model and region. Dell Latitude 7450

- Select Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello), then choose Set up.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to register your fingerprint.

Microsoft describes an external reader as an option for a Windows device without an integrated sensor. Before buying one, confirm that the specific reader supports Windows Hello on your device. Microsoft also warns that some third-party readers may not work when Enhanced sign-in security is enabled unless they support that feature.
