The best ergonomic mouse is the one that fits your hand and lets you control the cursor comfortably. For a vertical design, Logitech’s Lift is described for small-to-medium hands and has a left-handed version; the MX Vertical is described for medium-to-large hands. If you would rather keep the device still and move a ball with your thumb, consider the Logitech ERGO M575 trackball. These are design and fit comparisons—not evidence that a mouse treats or prevents a medical condition.
How to choose an ergonomic mouse
Start with how you want to move the cursor, then narrow the options by hand size, handedness, and connection needs. “Ergonomic” does not identify one particular shape: vertical mice and trackballs change how you operate the device in different ways.
- Choose by control style: a vertical mouse still moves across the desk; a trackball lets you move the cursor with a ball while the device stays in place.
- Check fit guidance: compare the manufacturer’s stated hand-size range with your hand, and confirm left- or right-handed availability.
- Check connections and specifications: make sure the device offers connections and cursor-control features that suit your computer and workflow.
Vertical mice and trackballs: what is different?
Vertical mice
A vertical mouse changes the orientation of your hand on the mouse. You still move the whole device to guide the cursor. Logitech describes the MX Vertical as having a 57-degree angle; that is a product design specification, not proof of a health benefit. Logitech MX Vertical data sheet

A trackball moves the cursor when you operate its ball, while the device itself remains in place. Logitech’s ERGO M575 is a thumb-operated trackball, so it uses a different control motion from a conventional mouse. Consider whether you prefer that thumb control over moving a mouse body. Can an ergonomic mouse help wrist pain?
The product descriptions establish design features and manufacturer-stated fit, not that a particular mouse treats or prevents carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive strain injury, or another condition. The evidence cited here does not establish that one of these models is medically better. If pain or numbness persists, seek advice from a qualified health professional rather than relying on a mouse choice as treatment.
