Short answer: pooled benchmark results favor the standard MediaTek Dimensity 7400 over the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, while both platforms use a 4 nm process and eight-core CPU designs. This is a proxy comparison: the official MediaTek specification available here is for Dimensity 7400, and the sources do not establish that every phone branded Dimensity 7400 Ultra uses an identical configuration. A chipset score is also not a guarantee of how a particular phone performs.
How the specifications compare
The table compares Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 brief with MediaTek’s standard Dimensity 7400 specifications. Treat the 7400 column as a proxy for the Ultra-branded chip only with the qualification above; the available official specification does not verify equivalence across Ultra-branded phones. These are platform capabilities, not a list of features every handset must implement.
| Specification | Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 | Dimensity 7400 (proxy) |
|---|---|---|
| Process | 4 nm | 4 nm |
| CPU | Four performance cores up to 2.4 GHz and four efficiency cores up to 1.8 GHz | Four Arm Cortex-A78 cores up to 2.6 GHz and four Arm Cortex-A55 cores |
| Graphics | Adreno GPU; the captured Qualcomm brief does not name the model | Arm Mali-G615 MC2 |
| Memory support | LPDDR4x or LPDDR5; up to 12 GB listed in the brief | LPDDR4x or LPDDR5; speed up to 6400 Mbps listed |
| Storage support | UFS 3.1 | UFS 2.2 or UFS 3.1 |
| Display capability | FHD+ up to 120 Hz | WFHD+ up to 120 Hz or FHD+ up to 144 Hz |
| Peak 5G downlink | Up to 2.9 Gbps, vendor platform claim | Up to 3.27 Gbps, vendor platform claim |
Specifications are from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 brief and MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 product page. Phone makers choose which supported features to include, and memory, storage, cooling and other design choices can affect the result.

Scores and sample details are from NanoReview’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 vs Dimensity 7400 comparison, accessed in 2026. The listed sample counts are not a controlled, same-phone test, and the page does not give a clear original publication year for each benchmark set. Do not compare these figures with results from a different benchmark version or treat them as a prediction of gaming frame rates, temperatures or battery life.
What the chip differences mean in a phone
CPU and everyday responsiveness
MediaTek lists a higher maximum clock for the four Cortex-A78 cores than Qualcomm’s stated performance-core maximum, but clock speed alone does not determine how fast a phone feels. Software, workload, cooling and device configuration all matter. The pooled Geekbench results lean toward Dimensity 7400, but they do not isolate the chipset from the phones in which it was tested.

Graphics and gaming
The vendors identify different graphics configurations: Adreno for Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and Mali-G615 MC2 for Dimensity 7400. The captured Snapdragon brief does not identify its Adreno model, so the names alone do not support a direct graphics-spec ranking. NanoReview’s Steel Nomad Light aggregate favors Dimensity 7400, but it cannot establish how either chip will sustain performance in a specific game or handset.

Both platforms list Wi-Fi 6E. Qualcomm’s brief specifies peak 5G downlink up to 2.9 Gbps; MediaTek lists up to 3.27 Gbps and Bluetooth 5.4, and describes Wi-Fi 6E as an OEM option. These are platform feature or maximum-speed claims, not expected speeds for a particular phone. Carrier, region, supported bands, coverage, modem implementation and antenna design affect connectivity. The display figures likewise describe supported capabilities; the manufacturer determines the actual screen fitted to a handset.

Use the chipset as one input, then compare the actual handset versions sold in your region. The available chipset specifications and pooled benchmarks do not establish the price, performance or software support of particular phones.
- Price and regional availability: compare the exact configurations and local prices, not just the chipset name.
- Sustained performance and thermals: look for tests of the specific phones under the same workload; short benchmark peaks do not show how performance holds up over time.
- Battery and charging: check device-level battery capacity, endurance evidence and charging support rather than inferring these from a processor.
- Cameras: compare camera hardware and phone-specific image processing. A chipset label does not establish the quality of the finished camera system.
- Memory and storage: verify the configuration of the model for sale. Supported memory or storage standards do not mean every handset uses the fastest option.
- Software support: check the manufacturer’s update policy for the specific model and market.
- 5G bands: confirm the phone supports the bands used by your carrier and region; a platform’s peak downlink figure is not enough.
How to read MediaTek’s generational claim
MediaTek says Dimensity 7400 improves performance by over 10% compared with the previous generation and advertises improvements for NPU and camera tasks. Those are MediaTek’s claims in that stated comparison context, not independent measurements against Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. The available Qualcomm brief does not provide a directly comparable independent performance statistic. See MediaTek’s product page for its platform claims.
