Catch the first wild Aniimo that fills a gap in your starter’s team. Around Nimbus Fields, community guides point to Emberpup for Fire damage, Chirpi for Wind support, and Skippy for Water healing—but none is a universal best choice. Choose based on the combat role or field skill you need next.
Start with the job your starter already does
Your starter affects which catch is most useful. A fan-maintained beginner guide describes Helion as a close-range Holy attacker and Lunara as a ranged Holy attacker. Its advice is to add something different: another element, a healing or BREAK role, or a field skill instead of simply duplicating your starter’s job.
That is a practical team-building approach, not an official ranking. Your preferred play style and the obstacles on your current route matter as much as the creature’s listed role.

Fan-maintained guides describe these as useful early options around Nimbus Fields. Treat the roles and utility as community guidance rather than developer-endorsed rankings; creature roles and locations may change with updates.

Combat is only part of the decision
Aniimo can contribute outside battles. Budclaw’s reported BREAK role and rock-puzzle use may make it a better immediate choice than a combat-focused catch if an obstacle is blocking your progress. Celestis may be the more useful pick when traversal is the pressing need.

The official Steam listing says players catch Aniimo with Aniipods, Twine with collected creatures, and use creature skills for puzzles, battles, and traversal. It also says appearances depend on environment, weather, phenomena, and time of day, so an Aniimo’s availability can depend on conditions.
A quick way to choose
- Identify your starter’s role. Note whether you mainly rely on close-range or ranged Holy attacks, or another role your starter provides.
- Look at the next challenge. If it is a fight, decide whether damage, support, healing, or element variety would help. If it is an obstacle, consider a relevant field skill.
- Catch one that answers that need. Pick the matching option rather than chasing a fixed tier list: Emberpup for Fire damage, Chirpi for Wind support, Skippy for Water healing, Budclaw for BREAK or rock puzzles, or Celestis for traversal.
- Reassess as your route changes. A later obstacle or team change may make a different role more valuable.
What the game’s official sources establish
The official listing describes Aniimo as companions players can catch and use across puzzles, battles, and traversal. Its wording is: “When embarking on an adventure on Idyll, anyone you meet can become a companion!” The official Aniimo website also describes catching and collecting Aniimo and unlocking an Aniimo accessory through the Aniilog. Neither official source gives a definitive first-catch ranking; the specific role suggestions above come from fan-maintained guides.
