For a DJI drone registered with the U.S. FAA, the Remote ID serial number depends on the aircraft model. On certain models, it is the same as the aircraft’s 20-character serial number beginning with 1581F. On some models with a 14-character aircraft serial number, the Remote ID number is different; find it in the model’s DJI flight-control app or in the drone’s nearby Wi-Fi broadcast.
First, check whether the aircraft serial number matches Remote ID
DJI says that for listed models with a 20-character serial number beginning 1581F, the aircraft serial number is also the Remote ID serial number and generally the flight-controller serial number. Examples include the Mavic 3 series, Mini 3 series, Avata, Matrice 30 series, and Mavic 3 Enterprise series.
Some models with 14-character serial numbers use a separate Remote ID serial number. DJI names the Air 2S, Matrice 300 RTK, and Agras T30 as examples. These examples are not a complete support list, so check the model-specific guidance in DJI’s Remote ID FAQ for your aircraft.

Where to look for the number
Aircraft label or box
For a model whose Remote ID number matches its aircraft serial number, check the sticker on the box and the label on the aircraft. Depending on the model, the aircraft label may be inside the battery compartment or elsewhere on the fuselage. Confirm that the number has 20 characters and begins with 1581F before treating it as the Remote ID number.

DJI flight-control app
Use the Remote ID serial-number entry for your exact model in DJI’s model-specific Remote ID FAQ. App menus and the serial number displayed vary by aircraft and app. DJI’s DJI Fly instructions for viewing the flight-controller serial number are: connect the aircraft to the remote controller, enter Camera View, tap the menu in the top-right corner, then select About > Serial Number. That screen may show a flight-controller serial number; do not assume it is the Remote ID number on a model that uses a separate one.
DJI also provides app guidance for DJI GO 4, DJI GO, DJI Pilot, DJI Pilot 2, GS RTK, GS Pro, SmartFarm, and DJI MG. Use the instructions for the app and model you have rather than applying the DJI Fly menu path to every aircraft.

Nearby Wi-Fi networks
If the app or label does not resolve the number, DJI says the aircraft’s active Remote ID broadcast can be identified in a nearby phone or tablet’s Wi-Fi network list. The network name begins with RID-; the characters after that prefix are the Remote ID serial number.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Use the remote controller to start the aircraft’s motors, following DJI’s instructions for the model.
- On a phone or tablet close to the aircraft, scan the available Wi-Fi networks.
- Look for a network whose name starts with
RID-and note the serial number that follows. - If no network appears, scan again. DJI notes that the timing of Wi-Fi scans varies, so the broadcast may not show on the first scan.
Choose the lookup method that fits your case
| Method | Best suited to | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Aircraft or box label | A model whose 20-character aircraft serial begins with 1581F |
DJI says this serial matches the Remote ID serial for listed models. |
| Flight-control app | Finding the model-specific Remote ID entry, especially when the aircraft serial is different | Use DJI’s instructions for the exact model and app; a flight-controller serial number is not necessarily the Remote ID number. |
| Wi-Fi network scan | Checking the live broadcast when the number is not readily available in the app or on a label | Look nearby for an RID- network while the aircraft is broadcasting; repeat the scan if needed. |
Verify the aircraft’s Remote ID status
Before relying on the number, check Remote ID status in the applicable app. DJI describes “Takeoff permitted” and “Remote ID functionality normal” as normal status indications in DJI Fly. A serial number alone does not confirm that Remote ID is functioning.

Check your jurisdiction’s requirements
The guidance above describes DJI’s process for U.S. FAA Remote ID registration. Remote ID rules and registration processes can differ elsewhere; if you operate outside the United States, check the current requirements of your local aviation authority. For DJI aircraft, confirm model and firmware support using the current model-specific information rather than assuming every model uses the same serial-number format or lookup process.
