On a Samsung Galaxy tablet using Samsung Keyboard, open any app, tap a text field to show the on-screen keyboard, then tap the clipboard icon in the keyboard toolbar. Choose a copied item to paste it. If you do not see the icon, check the toolbar’s additional options.
Open the clipboard from Samsung Keyboard

Open an app with a text-entry area, such as Messages or Notes, and tap the field where you want to type.

When Samsung Keyboard appears, tap the clipboard icon in its toolbar. Samsung’s clipboard instructions describe opening the clipboard from the keyboard while entering text: Samsung Galaxy clipboard instructions.

If the clipboard icon is missing
Check the toolbar’s extra options
The clipboard icon may be tucked into the keyboard toolbar’s overflow or additional-options area. Expand the toolbar controls and look for it there.
Turn on the keyboard toolbar
If the toolbar is disabled, open Settings and search for “Samsung Keyboard.” On supported layouts, go to General management > Samsung Keyboard settings and enable the keyboard toolbar. Samsung’s toolbar guidance documents this path, though its troubleshooting page is written for phones, so tablet screens may differ: Samsung keyboard toolbar guidance. Check which keyboard is active
These steps apply when Samsung Keyboard is the active on-screen keyboard. If you use a third-party keyboard, its toolbar and clipboard controls may work differently; consult that keyboard’s help. Samsung’s Japanese support guidance notes that clipboard use may be unavailable with third-party keyboards on Android 12 and later. If available on your device, switch to Samsung Keyboard to follow Samsung’s instructions. Menu names and layouts also vary by tablet model and One UI version.
Keep an item available with pinning
Clipboard contents are temporary, but Samsung says selected items can be pinned. Its Japanese support page reports that up to 20 items can be pinned, or up to 10 on Android 10 and earlier. These limits come from that specific Samsung guidance and should not be assumed to apply to every model, software version, or region: Samsung Galaxy clipboard instructions.

Do you need a physical keyboard?
No accessory is needed to open the clipboard: it is a software feature accessed through the on-screen keyboard. Samsung’s tablet guide discusses optional book-cover keyboards for physical typing, but not as a clipboard requirement.

Local clipboard access on your tablet does not require cross-device sharing. Samsung documents a separate sharing feature for supported devices running One UI 3.1 or later: the devices must use the same Samsung account and Wi-Fi, have Bluetooth enabled, and have Continue on other devices turned on.
