For sealed Pokémon TCG products in the United States, start with the official Pokémon Center or an established mass-market retailer. For individual cards, check the specific seller, listing, and fulfillment route before paying. No cited retailer or marketplace guarantees that every product or seller is counterfeit-proof.
Which online buying option fits your purchase?

Pokémon Center calls itself the official online Pokémon store in the United States and lists trading cards. Pokémon Support separately says Pokémon TCG cards are distributed through existing mass-market retail partnerships. Neither statement is a global store directory or a guarantee of current stock.
How to assess a listing before you buy
Check who is actually selling and fulfilling it
A platform name alone does not tell you who supplies the item. Identify whether the seller is the retailer, a named third-party shop, or an individual. On TCGplayer, distinguish an explicitly Direct-fulfilled listing from an ordinary marketplace order: the Authentication Center description applies to Direct Pokémon singles, not automatically to every listing.

Match the product details
For a single card, compare the exact card name, language, set and collector number, and stated condition. Review photos when provided and make sure the listing describes the card you intend to receive. For sealed products, compare packaging and printed text with official product imagery. Pokémon’s counterfeit guidance recommends checking packaging and warns buyers to be cautious with unknown sources.
Use price as a warning signal, not proof
Pokémon Support’s counterfeit guidance, updated May 26, 2026, states: “Because of this, finding a pack of cards priced dramatically below our suggested retail price is a near certain warning that you’re being sold counterfeit merchandise.” A low price is a reason to stop and investigate, not a standalone test that establishes whether a particular listing is genuine.
Read the protections and claim steps before checkout
TCGplayer’s Safeguard describes coverage for missing and not-as-described orders, as well as a counterfeit-review claim process. Its stated refund process requires suspected counterfeits to be submitted to TCGplayer for review. Read the current terms and instructions before buying; keep the order record and packaging until any concern is resolved.

- Keep the card, packaging, order confirmation, and seller messages. Avoid altering or disposing of the item while you check the platform’s process.
- Contact the seller or platform through the order’s official support route and follow its current claim instructions. For a TCGplayer counterfeit claim, submit the suspected card for review as its process requires.
- If you want an in-person opinion, Pokémon Support suggests asking a specialist local card shop to evaluate the card.
Buying outside the United States
The Pokémon Center page cited here is for the United States, and the cited mass-market-partnership information does not establish a worldwide retailer list. Outside the US, look for the corresponding regional official Pokémon store, confirm that a local retailer is an authorized or established channel, and check shipping, returns, and consumer protections that apply where you live.
