Streamlabs Desktop saves recordings to the folder shown under Settings > Output > Recording. That path is configurable, so there is no single default folder to assume across users and operating systems. Streamlabs Support explains how to check or change it.
How to find the recording folder
- Open Streamlabs Desktop and select Settings.
- Select Output.
- Scroll to Recording and inspect the path shown there. This is the destination configured for recordings; choose a different path in this section if you want to change it.
Streamlabs’ exact-topic guide gives the same route: Settings, Output, then Recording.
Find a recording just after you stop
After a recording ends, Streamlabs Desktop may show a save confirmation. Use it to view information about the file or open the recording in another Streamlabs application. See the Streamlabs Support guide for this confirmation option.
If the recording is missing
If the configured path does not contain the file, Streamlabs recommends checking the destination rather than assuming the recording went to a standard folder:

- Check available space. Confirm the selected folder’s drive has enough free space for the recording.
- Check write access. The account running Streamlabs Desktop needs permission to save files in that location.
- Try running the application as administrator. Streamlabs lists this as a possible troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed fix.

Choosing a different save location
Set the recording path in Settings > Output > Recording. When choosing a folder or drive, consider its available space, whether Streamlabs Desktop can write to it, and how easily you can locate and manage the files later.
