Spend premium currency when you want a specific banner reward, understand that banner’s odds and guarantee rules, and can afford the attempt without sacrificing a target you value more. Save when you are pulling from hype, cannot reach a useful guarantee, or would rather keep your resources for a future banner. Use tickets and coins only after checking which banners or shops accept them. Rerolling is a separate choice for a new account: it may make sense if you have a specific starting target and the game offers a manageable reset route.
There is no universal gem budget, pull threshold, or reroll rule. Costs, pools, pity counters, guarantees, and eligible currencies vary by game, server, region, and banner. Check the current in-game details and official notices before spending.
Start with the target, not the currency balance
A large stash does not make a banner worthwhile, and a small stash does not automatically make a pull wasteful. First decide whether you genuinely want the featured character or item. Then check what else can drop, whether the target is limited or available elsewhere, and what you would give up by spending now.

- Save consideration: You are reacting to hype, prefer another target, or would spend resources you need for a more valuable opportunity.
- Check alternatives: A reward that can enter a standard pool or be obtained through another route may be less urgent for you than a limited one. Verify the actual game’s rules rather than assuming availability.
A tier list can inform a decision, but it cannot decide what is fun or useful for your account. The value of a character or item depends on your goals and preferences.
Read the banner rules before calculating a pull budget
Currency names do not tell you how much a pull costs or what a guarantee covers. A gacha pull is a random reward drawn from a weighted pool, and games can have separate pools, rarity tracks, and pity counters. Before spending, inspect the banner’s details and find the listed rates, guarantee ceiling, featured-reward rules, and any reset or carryover conditions.
Examples of why rules cannot be generalized

These figures describe the named games and sources, not a general probability or recommended pull count for anime gacha games.
Check pity, guarantee, and carryover as separate questions
Your current pity counter matters, but it is only one part of the decision. Check what event resets the counter, whether the guarantee is currently in your favor, and whether progress carries to another banner of the same type after the current one ends. A counter can carry over while a separate featured-reward guarantee behaves differently, so verify both explicitly.

- Current counter: How many eligible pulls have counted toward the next rarity guarantee?
- Guarantee state: If the next high-rarity reward is not featured, what happens on the following one?
- Reset rule: Does receiving a high-rarity reward reset pity, and which pool or banner type does it affect?
- Carryover: Does pity or featured guarantee transfer to a later banner, and under what banner category?
Do not keep pulling just because you already spent. Past pulls are a sunk cost; the relevant choice is whether the next pull is worth its cost under the current rules and your priorities.
Use a checklist before spending gems, tickets, or coins
- Name the target. Decide whether you want the featured character or item, rather than pulling because a banner is popular.
- Check the pool and availability. Confirm what can drop and whether the target is limited, permanent, or obtainable elsewhere.
- Calculate what your stash can buy. Use the in-game cost for that banner and compare it with the listed rate and guarantee ceiling. Do not infer a pull cost from a currency label.
- Read your pity and guarantee state. Confirm the counter, what resets it, and whether the featured guarantee is active.
- Check carryover and expiry. Find out whether progress transfers if the banner ends before you get the target.
- Verify eligible resources. Confirm whether your tickets, coins, or exchange currency work on this banner or only in another banner or shop.
- Weigh the opportunity cost. Ask which future target or other use you would give up by spending now.
- Make the choice for your account. Use tier lists as one input, not as an instruction to spend.
Do not assume tickets and coins are interchangeable
Some games divide currencies and tickets by banner class, and a resource that looks valuable may not be usable for the banner you want. For example, Prydwen Institute’s Etheria: Restart guide, last updated May 30, 2025, distinguishes Hydra Crystals, Anima Prototypes, and Apex Prototypes for different banner classes. It reports an exchange of 100 Hydra Crystals for one Anima Prototype and 300 Hydra Crystals for one Apex Prototype, with the Apex option restricted to the rate-up banner. The same guide says Shells are farmed through PvE rather than pulled. These are game-specific reported rules that may change; check the current in-game exchange and banner details.
Before converting or spending a resource, verify the destination, eligible banner, exchange rate, and whether the transaction is reversible. A ticket or coin balance is not useful for a target if its rules exclude that target’s banner.
Compare banners by value and rules, not by headline rarity
If you have more than one real option, compare the factors that change the outcome:

- How much you personally value the reward.
- The total resource cost to reach a guaranteed outcome.
- The chance that the guarantee produces the featured target.
- Whether pity and featured guarantees carry over.
- Which currencies and tickets the banner accepts.
- Whether the reward is limited or available through other sources.
A banner promising a high-rarity reward is not necessarily the better choice if its guarantee is more expensive, its featured rules are less favorable, or you value another target more. Genshin Impact’s character and weapon wishes have different guarantees; Etheria: Restart uses different ticket types; and Lost Sword’s guide distinguishes collaboration releases from ordinary pool additions. Those examples show why current game-specific rules matter more than generic banner advice.

Rerolling means restarting or creating new accounts to try for a preferred opening reward. It can consume time and may require discarding progress. It is most worth considering while the account is new, the game has a manageable reset route, and you know which specific starting result would justify beginning again.
- Check whether the game permits the reset method and whether account or platform rules impose restrictions.
- Estimate how much time each attempt takes and how many attempts you are willing to make.
- Choose a concrete target or acceptable result before restarting; otherwise, rerolls can become an open-ended chase.
- Compare the likely benefit of a better start with the progress and time you would lose.
There is no universal reroll method or requirement to reroll. Procedures and feasibility depend on the game, platform, and current account system, so verify the rules for the specific title.

What to verify in the game before you commit
For a final check, use the banner’s in-game details and the game’s official notices. Third-party guides can help explain a system, but their dates and game-specific information matter: for example, the Etheria: Restart guide cited above was last updated in May 2025. Rates, costs, pools, and exchange rules can change. If the game’s current banner page conflicts with an older guide, use the current official information for the active banner.
