RaiDrive is the more directly documented choice when you specifically need a WebDAV share to appear as a drive in Windows File Explorer. The right choice depends on whether you want a transfer window or a mounted drive—not on an unverified claim that one client is universally faster or easier.
Choose by the way you access files

When RaiDrive is more than you need
RaiDrive’s central advantage is also what can make it unnecessary: it maps remote storage to a Windows drive. If you are comfortable connecting in a separate client to browse, download, or upload files, you may not need that drive mapping. Cyberduck is a credible option to investigate for that workflow; WinSCP is another WebDAV-capable transfer client.
RaiDrive Standard is listed as free, limited to eight drives, and supported by advertisements. Its plan page lists WebDAV as writable. Paid plans list additional features, including unlimited drives and removal of advertisements. Prices displayed on the official page are monthly equivalents with a three-year commitment, and the page says billing starts after the free trial unless cancelled beforehand. What to compare before switching
Drive mapping versus a transfer window
Decide first whether applications and File Explorer need to see the remote share as a drive. If so, RaiDrive explicitly documents that use. If you only need to connect and move files, compare dedicated-client workflows instead. WinSCP’s protocol list confirms WebDAV support, but does not by itself confirm a drive-mounting feature.

File locking
Cyberduck’s WebDAV documentation says file locking is not supported. If your workflow depends on locking to coordinate edits, check how your server and intended client handle that requirement before switching. Do not assume that a successful connection means concurrent-edit protections are equivalent.
Authentication and transport security
Cyberduck documents Basic, Digest, NTLM, Integrated Windows Authentication, and mutual TLS using a client certificate. Its documentation cautions that Basic Authentication should only be used over TLS. If Cyberduck reports an untrusted or expired certificate, correct the certificate validity or trust configuration where possible rather than casually bypassing the warning.

Server-specific behavior
WebDAV performance and compatibility depend on the server implementation and configuration. RaiDrive says NAS devices are typically slower over WebDAV than SFTP; that is the vendor’s generalization, not a guaranteed result for every NAS or network. There is no basis here for declaring one client fastest or most reliable across all servers. Test the actual NAS or Nextcloud endpoint you use.
Check the WebDAV endpoint before blaming the client
RaiDrive’s setup guidance says the server-side WebDAV service must be enabled. It lists Synology, QNAP, ASUSTOR, and Nextcloud as examples. For Nextcloud, it gives this URL form: https://<host>/remote.php/dav/files/<username>/. The guide asks for the host and port, allows an optional subfolder mount, and recommends HTTPS. - Confirm WebDAV is enabled on the server.
- Check the host, port, path, and credentials. Use anonymous access only if the server explicitly permits it.
- Prefer HTTPS, and check that the server’s TLS configuration and certificate are valid and trusted.
- If the connection works on the local network but not from outside it, check the router and firewall configuration, including any required port forwarding.
Troubleshoot common WebDAV connection failures

These causes and remedies are documented in RaiDrive’s WebDAV troubleshooting guide. A client switch will not necessarily resolve a server-side limit, TLS mismatch, or blocked network path.

- Write down whether you require a persistent Windows drive or only file browsing and transfers.
- Confirm your server’s WebDAV URL, port, authentication method, and HTTPS certificate status.
- Try a client whose documented workflow matches the requirement: RaiDrive for a documented Windows drive mount, Cyberduck for documented WebDAV connections in a dedicated client, or WinSCP for a WebDAV-capable transfer client.
- Test the actions you actually perform—such as listing folders, uploading, downloading, and editing—against your own server. Include any file-locking or authentication requirements in that check.
That test is more informative than a universal speed or ease-of-use ranking: the official documentation establishes supported functions, not comparative performance across your particular server and network.
