Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →bypassPermissions is only worth considering when Claude Code runs in a deliberately isolated, low-impact environment and you are comfortable with the actions it can take there. The mode skips all permission prompts; it does not make commands harmless or guarantee that your workspace is contained. For sensitive projects, valuable credentials, production-connected systems, or work you do not fully understand, keep prompts enabled or choose a narrower mode.
What bypassPermissions changes
Claude Code offers four permission modes. In bypassPermissions, all permission prompts are skipped. Anthropic describes the mode as requiring a safe environment. The related CLI flag, --dangerously-skip-permissions, is labeled “Skip permission prompts (use with caution)” in the Claude Code CLI reference.
That changes the checkpoint, not the possible impact of an action. Claude Code can still use the tools and resources available to it; bypassing prompts does not itself restrict filesystem access, isolate credentials, or prevent consequential changes.
How the permission modes compare
| Mode | Documented behavior | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
default |
Requests permission for new tool uses. | When you want to review actions before they proceed. |
acceptEdits |
Automatically accepts file edits during the session; command permissions remain distinct. | When file-edit approval is the specific friction you want to remove. |
plan |
Allows analysis but not file modifications or command execution. | When you need investigation or planning without actions. |
bypassPermissions |
Skips all permission prompts and requires a safe environment. | Only when deliberate isolation and low-impact access make that trade-off acceptable. |
These mode descriptions come from Anthropic’s Identity and Access Management documentation. The “when to consider it” column is practical guidance, not a guarantee from Anthropic that any particular setup is safe.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
When bypassPermissions may be reasonable
Consider bypass only after checking the environment and the task together. A disposable exercise in a temporary container may be a reasonable illustration if the container has no valuable secrets, broad access to your files, or consequential external integrations. It is not an officially approved use case or a guarantee of safety.
- The task is routine, and you understand the likely effects of the commands and edits.
- The work runs in a deliberately isolated environment, such as a devcontainer, that is disposable or straightforward to reset.
- The environment does not contain sensitive data or credentials the agent should not reach, and it is not connected to production systems.
- The available tools and integrations are limited to what the task needs, and you can inspect changes and command effects afterward.
Anthropic recommends considering devcontainers for added isolation, especially for sensitive code, and advises users to review proposed code and commands. The remaining checks above are cautious operational guidance inferred from the permission model, not a formal Anthropic safety checklist. See Anthropic’s Claude Code security guidance.

When to keep prompts enabled
Do not use bypass merely because a task is short or a repository is familiar. Avoid it when code is untrusted, the workspace contains secrets, the project is sensitive, or the process can reach production, shared infrastructure, or tools that can make consequential changes. In those situations, a permission prompt gives you a chance to catch an unexpected command or edit; bypass removes that checkpoint.
Use a narrower mode when it covers the task: plan for analysis without modifications or command execution, and acceptEdits when automatic file edits are desired but full prompt bypass is not. Otherwise, retain default or configure rules scoped to the work.

Controls that reduce risk
- Use scoped permission rules. Anthropic documents tool rules, project-level settings, and organization-managed policies. Its IAM documentation says deny rules take precedence over allow rules, and enterprise-managed settings cannot be overridden by user or project settings.
- Isolate the workspace. A devcontainer can add separation from the host environment, but it is a control to consider—not proof that every file, credential, or integration is inaccessible.
- Audit permissions and review actions. Anthropic recommends auditing settings with
/permissionsand checking proposed code and commands for safety. - Treat turn limits separately. The CLI reference documents
--max-turnsfor limiting agentic turns in non-interactive mode. A turn limit is not a replacement for permission prompts or isolation, and the reference does not say it restricts which accessible files, tools, or systems can be reached.
Exact behavior and available controls can depend on Claude Code’s version, tool configuration, connected MCP servers, policy, and runtime environment. Check the current documentation for the setup you use before relying on implementation-specific details.
