CSC pitched it as a way to combine private-cloud control over infrastructure and data with the service-based commercial model associated with public cloud. The historical accounts describe how the offer worked at the time; they do not establish whether BizCloud is available today.
What was CSC BizCloud?
CSC introduced BizCloud as an on-premises version of its CloudCompute service. Rather than running the cloud infrastructure in a provider’s datacenter, the described arrangement placed it in the customer’s datacenter. Data Center Knowledge reported on February 3, 2011, that CSC targeted delivery within 10 weeks. That was the reported delivery period in the announcement, not a current implementation commitment. (Data Center Knowledge, February 3, 2011)
CSC vice president Siki Giunta called BizCloud and CloudCompute “the centerpiece of the modern virtualized datacenter.” IDC vice president Robert Mahowald described the appeal as making public-cloud economics available “as a private cloud.” Both remarks appeared in the context of the 2011 announcement. (Data Center Knowledge, February 3, 2011)
What did “bringing a cloud to your premises” mean?
An on-premises cloud puts the infrastructure in the organization’s facility, while cloud services and management practices provide a more standardized, service-oriented way to provision and pay for computing resources. In CSC’s 2011 description, the customer’s datacenter location was the key distinction from a provider-hosted cloud. CSC said the model offered the privacy, security, and control associated with private cloud alongside the convenience and commercial approach associated with public cloud. Those were the provider’s stated aims, not independent guarantees about security or cost.

The service was described as using the Vblock Infrastructure Platform from VCE, a joint venture involving Cisco, EMC, and VMware. CSC presented BizCloud as related to its public and off-premises private-cloud offerings, with workloads potentially movable to CSC’s public cloud depending on security and control needs. The report did not specify migration conditions or establish that every workload could move without constraints. (Data Center Knowledge, February 3, 2011)
How was BizCloud packaged and priced in 2011?
Data Center Knowledge reported three BizCloud packages, four service tiers, and billing as a service according to a standard rate card. The article gave an availability-guarantee range, but these are historical reported terms, not verified current service levels or prices.

How did CSC position it in later cloud plans?
In February 2012, CoreSite described CSC Trusted Cloud Services as a portfolio spanning off-premises public and virtual private cloud, on-premises private cloud, and hybrid cloud. Its release said these models shared the Vblock cloud fabric, used a standard rate card and service-level agreements, followed pay-as-you-go pricing, and offered bronze, silver, gold, and platinum support tiers. CoreSite also said it had deployed 1.5 MW of capacity for CSC Trusted Cloud Services across its Boston and Northern Virginia datacenters. That figure referred to deployment capacity, not the size of an individual customer’s service. These are statements in the 2012 release, not current terms. (CoreSite, February 16, 2012)
Cisco’s Canadian launch account from April 2012 described BizCloud as a Canadian-hosted private or hybrid cloud option for customers seeking to keep data within Canada’s borders, and said it ran on Vblock. This is Cisco’s contemporaneous description of that launch, not evidence of present-day geographic availability. (Cisco, April 12, 2012)

In a transcript of CSC’s FY2015 Q1 discussion, company management said it was investing in a next version of BizCloud and integrating the ServiceMesh Agility Platform with Amazon, Microsoft, VMware, and IBM. The transcript also described a commercial bank choosing CSC for a hybrid-cloud transition involving BizCloud and ServiceMesh. This places BizCloud in CSC’s strategy at that time; it does not establish current integrations or availability. (CSC FY2015 Q1 filing transcript)
How did the model differ from public cloud?
The central distinction in the historical description was infrastructure location: BizCloud ran in the customer’s datacenter, while a public-cloud model places provider infrastructure in provider-operated facilities. That distinction can affect who controls the physical environment and how data-location requirements are addressed, but it does not by itself establish who managed every layer of BizCloud. CSC’s reporting emphasized service-based billing and the possibility of moving workloads among its cloud models; specific operational responsibilities and migration terms were not stated in the cited 2011 account.

| Question | BizCloud as described historically | Public-cloud model generally described in the announcement |
|---|---|---|
| Where was the infrastructure? | In the customer’s datacenter | Provider-hosted |
| Who managed all infrastructure layers? | Not stated in the 2011 report | Not detailed in the 2011 report |
| Commercial approach | Service billing from a standard rate card | Presented as the public-cloud-like convenience and commercial model; detailed rates were not stated |
| Workload movement | CSC said workloads could move to its public cloud according to security and control requirements; detailed conditions were not stated | Migration specifics were not stated |
These distinctions are useful for understanding the proposal, not for comparing present-day contracts. A current comparison would need each provider’s actual responsibility matrix, data-location terms, service-level agreement, support model, pricing, and portability provisions.

The historical sources cited here do not establish whether BizCloud is currently sold, what it costs now, where it is available, what service levels apply, or who owns or operates a current successor. The FY2015 Q1 discussion of a next version is not proof of present availability. Treat BizCloud as a historical enterprise-cloud service unless CSC or a successor provides current documentation that confirms otherwise.
