The watch-specific magnetic puck, dock or cradle is a separate accessory: changing the wall adapter cannot make an incompatible charging cable fit.
For a quick choice, identify the cable’s USB end first. Use a USB-C adapter for a USB-C lead and a USB-A adapter (or compatible adapter) for a USB-A lead. Then check the exact watch model’s instructions, because there is no universal smartwatch wattage.
Choose the adapter from the charging cable first
- Inspect the wall-plug end of the supplied cable. A USB-C plug requires a USB-C port; a USB-A plug requires a USB-A port. The connector that attaches magnetically or clips to the watch is not interchangeable merely because the wall adapter fits.
- Confirm the watch model and generation. Replacement pucks, docks and cradles are often model-specific. Buy the watch’s matching charging accessory if the original cable is lost or damaged.
- Check the manufacturer’s electrical guidance. Use the stated voltage, current and charging protocol rather than assuming that a higher-wattage adapter is automatically better.
- Prefer a direct wall connection for speed. Hubs, computers, car ports and multiport adapters can provide less available output than a dedicated charger.
What Apple Watch owners should use
Apple says, “For fastest charging, use a USB-C Power Delivery charger and the USB-C Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Cable that came with your watch.” Connect that cable directly to a dedicated USB-C charger. Apple notes that sharing a multiport adapter or using a USB hub, computer or car port can reduce available output, and an older Apple Watch cable may charge more slowly. See Apple’s charge-speed guidance.
A USB-C PD adapter is therefore the appropriate category for an Apple Watch that uses Apple’s USB-C magnetic cable. A 20 W-class adapter can be a practical choice for that setup, but Apple’s separate fast-charge test equipment does not establish 20 W as a universal minimum for every Apple Watch or smartwatch.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What Samsung Galaxy Watch owners should use
For Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Samsung Canada says the power adapter should provide at least 5 V and 2 A. The included wireless-charger cable connects to that adapter. Samsung recommends its charging accessories; see Samsung Canada’s model guidance.
The charging dock is not universal across Galaxy generations. Samsung’s US guide explains that listed newer models use the current flat-dock style, 2017–2018 watches use a different dock, and Galaxy Fit2 uses its own cradle. Check Samsung’s compatibility list before ordering a replacement.

What Garmin owners should use
Garmin says a mobile-phone wall charger may be used, with a recommended output between 5 V/1 A and 5 V/3 A in its support guidance. Lower output can make charging slower, and Garmin advises checking the manual for the particular device. Read Garmin’s charger advice.
For the Forerunner 55, the supplied charging lead is proprietary. Its manual says to connect it to a USB-C computer port or an AC adapter rated at least 5 W. That 5 W figure applies to the Forerunner 55 instructions, not to every Garmin watch. See the Forerunner 55 charging section.

Why a watch may charge slowly
Shared or indirect power
Output can drop when several devices share a multiport charger, or when the watch is connected through a hub, computer or vehicle port. Try the same cable on a dedicated wall adapter that meets the watch’s instructions.
Wrong cable or dock
A correctly shaped USB plug does not prove that the magnetic or proprietary watch end is compatible. Verify the exact model and generation before replacing that part.

Temperature
Charging speed can be reduced when the watch or surroundings are too hot or too cold. Move it to a suitable room-temperature location and keep the charging contacts clean.
Apple’s Slow Charger message
On watchOS 26 and later, Apple may display a Slow Charger message when a higher-wattage charger could improve charging. Apple says the message alone does not mean the watch or charger is faulty. Details are in Apple’s support article.

Buying checklist
- Match USB-C or USB-A to the cable’s wall-adapter end.
- For Apple’s documented fastest setup, choose USB-C PD and the supplied USB-C magnetic cable.
- For Galaxy Watch9 or Watch Ultra2, ensure the adapter provides at least 5 V/2 A.
- For Garmin, check the model manual; general guidance cites 5 V/1 A–5 V/3 A, while the Forerunner 55 specifies at least 5 W.
- Replace a lost puck, dock, cradle or proprietary lead with one listed for the exact watch model and generation.
- Use a reputable, safety-certified charger and avoid damaged cables or loose connectors.
Bottom line
The suitable USB adapter is the one that matches your cable’s USB plug and satisfies your watch model’s published requirements. USB-C PD is Apple’s recommended fast-charge setup; Samsung’s Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 guidance calls for at least 5 V/2 A; Garmin requirements vary by device. Treat the watch-specific charging cable or dock as a separate compatibility decision.
