For a headset under $30, start with fit, device compatibility, and microphone controls—not a headline driver size or a vague promise of “great sound.” This guide focuses on wired gaming headsets because the available US examples and listings are gaming-oriented. If you need one mainly for work calls or general listening, give call clarity or listening comfort more weight than gaming features.
What matters most in a headset under $30?

A detachable microphone can be removed when you do not need it; a flip-to-mute design makes muting a physical movement. Those features describe convenience, not how clearly the microphone will sound.
