A missing carrier credit is not automatically a failed promotion: the first bill may arrive before the carrier finishes processing it. Check what kind of transaction you expected, the offer’s written terms, the correct account line, and the carrier’s processing window. If that window has passed—or the account shows a missed requirement—contact the carrier with your order, offer, and fulfillment records. A charitable donation needs a separate check: bill-payment donations and text or carrier-billed donations follow different rules, and some carrier-billing programs have ended.
First identify what should have appeared
“Credit” can mean several different things, and each may post in a different place or on a different schedule. Use the order confirmation, promotion details, or donation receipt to identify the transaction:
- Recurring device-promotion credit: monthly bill credits tied to a phone, qualifying plan, trade-in, or other offer requirement.
- One-time trade-in or account credit: a credit applied after the carrier receives or evaluates a device.
- Switching reward: some offers pay through a reward card rather than a bill credit. AT&T advises customers to check the specific offer and where its savings are delivered: AT&T’s guide to locating discounts or credits.
- Bill-payment donation: a charitable contribution selected while paying a carrier bill.
- Text or third-party mobile donation: a contribution initiated by a text keyword or mobile purchase, which may be recorded separately from carrier promotions.
Do not compare a donation entry with a device promotion as if they were the same type of credit. Their posting, eligibility, and refund rules can differ.

Check the bill and the carrier’s timing
Review the latest statement and, if available, the next-bill estimate. Confirm that you are looking at the account and phone line enrolled in the offer. Then compare the bill period with the offer’s start date and stated processing window.

These are carrier-published, situation-specific processing windows, not a universal deadline or an estimate of how often credits go missing. Use the written terms for your exact offer if they give a different schedule.
Verify eligibility and trade-in status
Open the offer confirmation or terms that applied when you enrolled. Check each requirement rather than relying on an advertisement’s headline description.

- Confirm the qualifying plan, phone line, device, and account status.
- For a trade-in, check the submitted model and condition, submission deadline, delivery confirmation, and inspection result.
- Look for a confirmation or enrollment record showing the offer was attached to the right line.
- Check whether a later plan change, service cancellation, or early device payoff affects the promotion.
AT&T recommends checking eligibility and the relevant line. Verizon’s trade-in terms describe validation after the device is received and application of promotional value after offer conditions are met. An advertised “free” phone may still involve installment payments offset by monthly credits. Check the installment agreement and the actual bill entries; do not assume there was no device payment. Before paying off a device, canceling service, or changing a qualifying plan to troubleshoot, check the promotion terms. Verizon identifies a non-qualifying plan or early payoff as examples that can affect credits. T-Mobile says credits generally stop if service is canceled and the remaining device balance may become due. Contact the carrier when the window has passed
If the published processing window has passed, or the account shows a requirement as incomplete when you believe it was met, contact the carrier through its official authenticated account portal, app, chat, or support line. Prepare a compact record so support can check both enrollment and fulfillment:
- Order or activation date and order number.
- Offer name or promotion ID, plus the confirmation or a copy of the terms.
- The account and phone line expected to receive the credit.
- For a trade-in: receipt, tracking number, delivery confirmation, and inspection result, if available.
- Relevant bills, including billing dates and any credits that did post.
State the issue plainly: “Please confirm the promotion attached to this line, whether all requirements are recorded as satisfied, the expected first credit date and amount, and whether a correction case is needed.” Ask for a case or interaction reference and a follow-up date. If support gives conflicting answers, refer to the offer confirmation and ask for review by the promotion or trade-in team. If the missing entry is a charitable donation
Donation selected while paying a Verizon bill
Check the payment confirmation and the next statement. Verizon says a donation made while paying its bill should appear on that next bill. Its FAQ describes the round-up amount as varying with the bill or payment amount and says donations are non-refundable: Verizon donation FAQ. Verizon’s terms, effective February 2025, state that donations are final and that the program or a matching grant may end at any time: Verizon charitable donations terms.

Check the confirmation text, charity receipt, carrier purchase history, and the bill section for third-party purchases. AT&T says its Mobile Purchases tools let customers view, cancel, block, or manage purchases, and that donation or purchase charges appear in separate bill sections: AT&T Mobile Purchases guidance. If a charge or confirmation is missing, contact both the carrier and the charity or donation platform with the date, phone number, short code or keyword, and any confirmation message. Do not send account credentials in an unsecured message.

First confirm that the donation route is still operating. Verizon says Mobile Giving Foundation donations through carrier billing ended October 10, 2024: Verizon carrier-billing notice. The American Red Cross says its phone-carrier billing program ended in June 2024; text keywords now direct donors to mobile-optimized donation forms: American Red Cross FAQ. Those changes concern the named programs; check the exact carrier and charity rather than assuming every text donation service has the same status.
