If your AT&T PREPAID plan won’t renew, sign in to your account and check the balance, payment status, and saved payment method. Correct the payment details under Manage Prepaid account > Profile & Settings > Payment Options, or use Make a Payment to pay or add funds. AT&T says AutoPay is processed one day before the due date for monthly plans and one day before the balance expires for non-monthly plans.
Check when AT&T expects to charge AutoPay
Before changing anything, compare the payment date with your plan’s renewal timing. AT&T processes AutoPay one day before the due date for monthly plans. For non-monthly plans, it processes AutoPay one day before the account balance expires. The charge includes the plan and any auto-renewing add-ons, plus applicable taxes and fees. See AT&T’s AutoPay information.
If the expected charge date has not arrived, a renewal may not yet be due. If it has passed, check the account rather than assuming the payment failed for a particular reason; AT&T’s published support information does not identify individual decline codes or explain account-specific restrictions.

Make a payment or add funds
Use Make a Payment in your account to pay or add money. AT&T also identifies a PREPAID refill card as a way to add funds in an older quick-start guide. That reference does not establish current availability, terms, or compatibility for every account, so verify those details before relying on a card. A physical card is not required if the account’s online payment option works for you.

Check whether the issue is an add-on, not the main plan
Auto-renewing add-ons have a separate control from the main plan’s saved payment method. AT&T says these add-ons renew every 30 days, with the charge deducted from the PREPAID balance. To manage or stop an add-on’s renewal, go to Manage Prepaid account > Add-ons > Manage Auto Renew. See AT&T’s add-on instructions.

Contact AT&T if the account doesn’t explain the failure
If your balance, payment status, and payment method look correct but renewal still fails, contact AT&T PREPAID support instead of guessing at the cause. Call 611 from an AT&T PREPAID phone or 800.901.9878 from another phone. AT&T also lists text chat by texting PREPAID to 75421; check AT&T’s support page for the hours posted for that option. If AT&T cannot identify a payment problem on the account, ask your card issuer, bank, or payment provider whether it can see a declined transaction.
Know what nonpayment can mean for service
AT&T says customers who do not use AutoPay need to pay their PREPAID bill when it is due to keep service; otherwise, service will be turned off. AT&T also says an unpaid number will be reassigned after 60 days. That statement is not a guaranteed grace period during which service will remain active. See AT&T’s AutoPay support page.
