If you can open the email address linked to your PlayStation account, use Trouble Signing in? > Recover Your Account and follow the secure reset link. If you cannot access or remember that email, or someone changed your account details without permission, contact PlayStation Support through its Online Assistant. For a two-step verification (2SV) lockout, use a saved backup code if available; otherwise, contact support.
Choose the recovery route that matches what you can still access
| What you can access | What to do |
|---|---|
| The linked email inbox | Use PlayStation’s account recovery flow to request a password reset link. |
| A device that uses the same passkey verification method | Sign in from that device, then register a new passkey. If no suitable device is available, contact PlayStation through the Online Assistant. |
| A saved 2SV backup code | Use one code to sign in. Each of PlayStation’s 10 backup codes is valid once. |
| No access to the linked email, passkey verification device, or 2SV backup code | Contact PlayStation Support through its Online Assistant. The documented guidance does not offer an email-reset bypass. |
| Account details changed without your permission | Contact PlayStation Support promptly and secure the linked email account. |
The instructions below come from PlayStation’s US support pages. Support options can differ by country or region; use the PlayStation support page for your country if you are elsewhere.
If you can open the email linked to your account
- Go to PlayStation account recovery and open Account Management.
- Select Trouble Signing in? > Recover Your Account.
- Enter your sign-in ID, which is the email address registered to the account.
- Open the secure link PlayStation sends to that email and follow its instructions to reset your password.
If the password-reset email does not arrive
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Search all email folders and mailboxes for “PlayStation.”
- Check that you entered the exact email address used as the account’s sign-in ID.
A missing message does not by itself mean the account is lost. For a child account, PlayStation says only the family manager can reset the password.
If you cannot access or remember the linked email
Use PlayStation’s sign-in troubleshooting page to reach the Online Assistant. PlayStation specifically directs people who cannot open the mailbox for a password-reset or 2SV email, or who have forgotten the email address, to contact it this way. The published recovery instructions do not describe a self-service reset that bypasses the linked inbox.

Passkey issue
If another device is available that uses the same verification method, try signing in on it and registering a new passkey. If you do not have a suitable device, contact PlayStation through the Online Assistant. See PlayStation’s account recovery instructions.
2SV issue
If you saved your 2SV backup codes, use one to sign in. PlayStation provides 10 codes, and each can be used only once. If you have no backup codes, or cannot access your phone or mobile number, contact the Online Assistant using PlayStation’s 2SV help page.
