The Aqara Radiator Thermostat E1 (SRTS-A01) is a smart radiator valve, not a universal wall thermostat for controlling any boiler. It works only with compatible thermostatic radiator valves and also requires an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub.
Will the Aqara E1 fit your radiator valve?
Start by identifying the valve fitted to the radiator. Aqara specifies an M30×1.5 mm threaded connection and includes adapters for RA, RAV and RAVL valve types. Aqara describes the included adapters as making the E1 compatible with “the majority of radiator valves,” but that does not mean every valve or heating system is supported. See Aqara’s Radiator Thermostat E1 product page and official specifications.
- Directly supported: compatible thermostatic radiator valves, including the listed M30×1.5, RA, RAV and RAVL connections.
- Not directly supported: manual radiator valves, return temperature limiter (RTL) valves and monotube radiator systems.
- Other valve types: Aqara says conversion with an aftermarket adapter may be possible in many cases, but compatibility depends on the exact valve. Do not assume a generic adapter will fit; ask a professional installer or official distributor if you cannot identify the valve.
If your system has no thermostatic radiator valve, the E1 is not a drop-in replacement for a central wall thermostat or a control for any boiler. Confirm the valve type before ordering the Aqara Radiator Thermostat E1.
Do you need an Aqara hub?
Yes. The E1 uses Zigbee 3.0, and Aqara states that an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub is required. Check that the specific hub you own—or plan to buy—is compatible with the E1 and the features you want. The product page lists Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Google and IFTTT support, and describes Matter support as an update for supported Aqara hubs. That does not establish that every hub or ecosystem implementation offers every feature.

- Apple Adaptive Temperature - With the Apple Home app, Adaptive Temperature uses your iPhone to adjust the thermostat based on activity states like 'home', 'sleep', 'away' and 'extended away'. This provides comfort upon arrival home and saves energy when away, without the complicated steps of creating or managing schedules. (Note: Adaptive Temperature requires a home hub (Apple TV or HomePod) and an iPhone or Apple Watch, all running version 26 or later.)
- Apple Clean Energy Guidance: Smarter Energy Savings - With the Apple Home app, Clean Energy Guidance makes small temperature adjustments to use cleaner grid times when electricity may cost less, while maintaining comfort. The forecast is personalized for your home location using environmental and grid data. (Note: Clean Energy Guidance is available only in the contiguous U.S.)
- Easy Installation with Wide HVAC Compatibility - Designed to fit most homes, W200 works with about 85% of HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, and PTAC units. No C-wire? Simply add the Aqara C-Wire Adapter (sold separately) for stable power. We even include a trim kit to easily cover old wiring and keep your wall looking clean and fresh.
- Functions as a Smart Display for Your Front Door - W200 works as a visual control panel for your Aqara video doorbell (only compatible with G410/G400, G4 excluded) and smart lock, showing visitor snapshots right on the screen and letting you unlock the door with a simple tap. No need to open an app on your phone or run to the door.
- Control Your Climate Your Way: App, Voice Assistant, or One-Tap Button Control – You can manually adjust the temperature via the app, or through voice assistants like Alexa or Siri when connected. You can also use the W100 wireless sensor (sold separately) for quick one-tap physical control. Perfect for easy changes from the couch, bed, or anywhere in your home.
The hub is a requirement for the thermostat; a separate room sensor is not. Check Aqara’s product overview and specifications against your intended setup before buying.
Do you need a separate room temperature sensor?
Not necessarily. The E1 has a built-in temperature sensor, and Aqara says it can also use readings from a connected Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor or TVOC monitor. An external sensor is an optional accessory, but it may be useful if you want the thermostat to base control on temperature measured away from the radiator.

Mounting matters: the built-in sensor is close to the radiator, and Aqara’s manual warns that vertical installation may produce inaccurate readings. For the illustrated mounting methods, the manual says an external Aqara temperature sensor is required for more accurate control; Aqara’s installation article also says horizontal mounting provides more accurate temperature readings than vertical mounting. Consult the E1 user manual and Aqara’s installation overview for the relevant mounting guidance.
Can you install and calibrate it on your radiator?
Allow time to fit and calibrate the E1 rather than treating installation as simply screwing on a replacement. Aqara’s FAQ says to mount the thermostat within five minutes after powering it on. Once fitted, calibrate the valve by pressing the thermostat’s button three times, or use the app after networking. Follow the Aqara FAQ and the product’s installation instructions; if you are unsure about the valve or fitting, ask an installer.
