Before buying a used Changan Oshan X7, confirm its model year and exact variant, verify its ownership and transfer status with the relevant Excise authority, and arrange an independent inspection of the engine, wet dual-clutch transmission, chassis, and electronics. Equipment differs across five- and seven-seat versions and trims, so check what the specific car actually has rather than relying on its badge or the seller’s description.
Identify the year, variant, and equipment first
Changan Pakistan’s current online specifications list a turbocharged 1,499 cc petrol engine producing 138 kW (185 hp) and 300 Nm, paired with a 7-speed wet DCT Triptronic transmission and front-wheel drive. The same listing gives a 55 L fuel tank and 225/55 R19 tyres. These are manufacturer specifications, not proof of a used vehicle’s condition or the specification of every model year.
The range includes five- and seven-seat FutureSense versions and a seven-seat Comfort version. Equipment can differ by year and trim: cameras, driver assistance, electric tailgate, instrument display, and seat features are not necessarily shared across all X7s. Use the VIN or registration details to confirm the car’s identity with an authorized Changan dealer where possible, then test each claimed feature. Changan Pakistan’s Oshan X7 specifications and its brochures are useful for identifying listed equipment, but specifications can change.

Do not compare two cars by trim badge alone. Compare their verified year and variant, seating, fitted equipment, documented mileage and service history, inspection findings, repair history, tyre and brake condition, warranty status, and readiness for ownership transfer.

Check the papers and ownership before paying
- Match the car to its documents. Compare the registration certificate or card and official record with the registration number, chassis number, and engine number on the vehicle. Check that the seller is the registered owner or can complete the proper transfer.
- Use the official service for the registration jurisdiction. Sindh provides vehicle lookup by registration number and a separate CNIC-based lookup. Islamabad Excise publishes online vehicle services and transfer information, including biometric verification. Procedures differ, so consult the authority responsible for this car before paying.
- Ask about outstanding obligations. Check any tax or other jurisdiction-specific requirements with the relevant Excise office, and confirm the current transfer steps and required documents directly with that authority.
Official services: Sindh vehicle verification, Sindh CNIC-based vehicle lookup, and Islamabad Excise and Taxation. These examples do not cover every Pakistani registration jurisdiction; use the relevant province or territory’s official channel.
Arrange an independent mechanical inspection
Ask a reputable workshop to inspect the car before purchase. The manufacturer’s specification establishes that the X7 has a turbocharged petrol engine and wet 7-speed DCT; it does not establish a common fault pattern. The checks below are practical used-car inspection points, not claims that a particular fault is prevalent in this model.

Engine and cooling system
- Ask the seller not to warm the car before the appointment. Observe a cold start and watch whether warning lights illuminate and then go out as expected.
- Listen for abnormal noises and look for smoke, fluid leaks, signs of overheating, or other visible damage.
- Compare the seller’s account of servicing with dated invoices and records. Ask the mechanic to explain any gaps or inconsistencies.
Wet DCT and road test
With the mechanic, test forward and reverse engagement, low-speed manoeuvres, hill starts, and gear changes both before and after the powertrain warms. Note delay, judder, harsh engagement, warning messages, or unusual noises, and have the workshop assess any symptoms. Test-drive only when the car is safe to drive.
Suspension, steering, brakes, and tyres
- Drive on a safe mix of smooth and uneven roads. Listen for knocks and check whether the vehicle tracks straight.
- Have the mechanic examine suspension components, brake discs, tyre wear, and parking-brake operation.
- Inspect all tyres for tread, uneven wear, sidewall damage, age, and matching fitment. Changan lists 225/55 R19 tyres; check the specific car’s tyre placard or manual for the correct pressure.
- Check for a TPMS warning. A pressure gauge can verify tyre pressure, but it does not establish tyre condition or replace the car’s monitoring system.
Body, structure, and repairs
Inspect the car in daylight for inconsistent panel gaps, paint mismatch, overspray, repaired seams, underbody damage, and corrosion. Ask about accident repairs and request invoices where available. These are general used-car checks; Changan’s reviewed material does not establish model-specific body-failure patterns.

Diagnostics and service history
Ask a qualified workshop to scan available vehicle modules and explain stored faults or indications that faults may have been cleared. Reconcile mileage and dates across invoices and other service records rather than relying on the odometer or seller’s statement alone.
Test every fitted electronic and safety feature
Operate each feature the specific car is supposed to have. Depending on the variant, check the infotainment screen, air conditioning and rear vents, cameras, parking sensors, lights, windows, mirrors, keyless entry, sunroof, and powered tailgate. Test ADAS functions only if that equipment is confirmed on the vehicle; another X7’s features do not prove this one has them.

Where fitted, verify the 360-degree camera image and parking-sensor alerts in a safe setting. Check TPMS for warnings and confirm that controls and displays respond as expected. Ask the seller to demonstrate unfamiliar functions, then test them yourself rather than accepting a verbal assurance.
Confirm service records and any remaining warranty
An Oshan X7 brochure published approximately in 2024 describes a 5-year / 150,000 km limited warranty. That brochure wording does not confirm that a particular used car is still covered. Ask an authorized Changan service centre to check the vehicle’s original sale date, mileage, applicable terms, claim history, and service history, and request confirmation in writing. Changan Pakistan can direct buyers to its official services and vehicle information.
