For mixed floors, check the robot’s carpet map and carpet behavior first. Turn on carpet suction boost for vacuuming if your model offers it; before mopping, set whether it should avoid carpet, vacuum carpet only, or clean carpet first. These options—and their names—vary by model, so confirm them in the robot’s app guide before relying on them.
Set up carpet detection and vacuuming
Check the map
Open the robot’s map in its app and confirm that rugs and carpeted areas are recognized. If your model lets you label flooring manually, correct the map where needed. Carpet detection or an app-set carpet area can affect whether the robot boosts suction or follows a carpet-specific cleaning rule.
Enable carpet boost when available
For carpet vacuuming, enable automatic carpet boost if your robot supports it. Roborock says the Q10 X5 increases suction when it detects carpet or when carpet is set in the app. This is a model feature, not a universal setting or a guarantee of a particular pickup result. Roborock Q10 X5 product and support information.

Some supported ECOVACS DEEBOT models offer three carpet strategies. ECOVACS recommends Avoid for medium- and long-haired carpets, Vacuum Only for short-haired carpet under 10 mm or mats, and Pass Only for medium- or long-haired carpet placed in a doorway or across a room. Check that your specific model has these options; the labels and behavior should not be assumed to apply to other robots. ECOVACS DEEBOT carpet and mat guidance, updated August 16, 2024.

| Carpet situation | Supported DEEBOT strategy | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Medium- or long-haired carpet | Avoid | Robot avoids the carpet while cleaning. |
| Short-haired carpet under 10 mm or a mat | Vacuum Only | Robot vacuums the carpet rather than mopping it. |
| Medium- or long-haired carpet in a doorway or across a room | Pass Only | Robot passes over the carpet without cleaning it. |
The pile guidance and option descriptions in this table are ECOVACS recommendations for supported DEEBOTs, not general carpet thresholds for every brand.
Keep carpet dry during a mop run
Pick a dry-carpet behavior
Before starting a vacuum-and-mop session, decide what should happen when the robot reaches carpet: avoid it, vacuum it without mopping, or vacuum it first and mop hard floors afterward. Use only the behavior your model supports. A raised mop does not guarantee that every rug is safe to cross: for the Roborock Q10 X5, the manufacturer recommends carpet avoidance or No-Go Zones on medium- to high-pile carpet because resistance can remain high even with the mop raised. Roborock Q10 X5 product and support information.
Use Clean Carpet First on compatible DEEBOTs
For the ECOVACS Clean Carpet First workflow, set the carpet strategy to Vacuum Only, then enable Settings > Robot Advanced Settings > Clean Carpet First. ECOVACS says the robot vacuums carpet, returns to the base to wash the mop, and then cleans other areas. This sequence is specific to compatible DEEBOTs and may not match another app’s controls. Use a boundary for rugs the robot should not enter
If a rug is too thick, delicate, or likely to catch the robot, use a carpet-avoidance control or draw a No-Go Zone if the app offers it. The ECOVACS T50 MAX family manual says not to use that model on shaggy rugs or carpet fibers longer than 10 mm; it advises folding such rugs up or setting a no-entry zone. That is a T50 MAX family restriction, not a universal 10 mm limit. ECOVACS DEEBOT T50 MAX family instruction manual.
Adjust settings for pets and hair
When pet hair collects on carpet, carpet boost can be useful if your robot provides it. Roborock describes the Q7 M5 as increasing suction on detected or app-set carpet and also describes an anti-tangle brush system and pet-hair-oriented cleaning features. Those are manufacturer-described features for that model; they do not establish that tangles will be eliminated or that one setting works best for every pet, rug, or robot. Roborock Q7 M5 product and support information.
There is no cross-brand pet-hair mode or suction level established by these manufacturer sources. If hair remains on a rug, check that the area is mapped as carpet, confirm boost is active where supported, and consult the model’s manual for brush and carpet-care guidance rather than assuming that a higher setting is always appropriate.

Use hard-floor settings only when your model supports them
Some Roborock models offer a floor-direction setting intended to help the robot follow tile seams or floor gaps. If your model has that control and debris collects along seams, set the direction along them as its guide recommends. Availability and setting names differ by model. Roborock Q7 M5 product and support information.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Do not assume there is one safe water-flow setting for all hard floors. The cited manufacturer information does not compare water levels across finishes or establish a universal setting for wood, tile, or other surfaces. Follow the instructions for the specific floor and robot, and use a vacuum-only or no-mop behavior where the floor’s care requirements call for it.
Troubleshoot a rug that catches or lifts
If a curled corner catches a DEEBOT, ECOVACS recommends securing the corner with double-sided tape or using a virtual wall to keep the robot away. Check that adhesive is suitable for your floor finish before applying it. This is a targeted fix for a catching rug corner, not a setting every household needs. ECOVACS DEEBOT carpet and mat guidance, updated August 16, 2024.
Quick Recap
- If the robot mops a rug, review its carpet map and dry-carpet behavior before the next run.
- If it stalls on thick pile, use the manufacturer-supported avoidance or boundary option rather than assuming mop lift will solve the problem.
- If the app labels in this article are absent, consult the exact model’s official guide; settings differ across robot families.
