Samsung On-device Resource is a supporting software package that supplies offline speech recognition and transcription capabilities to Samsung apps. It is not a standalone app with its own general-purpose workflow. Samsung’s Galaxy Store listing names Phone, Bixby, Voice Recorder, Interpreter and Samsung Voice Input as apps or features that use it.
What does Samsung On-device Resource do?
The package provides speech-processing resources used for tasks such as turning speech into text. Samsung describes it as an “offline transcription service for all Samsung applications.” That describes the resource’s role; it does not mean every feature in every listed app works entirely offline on every Galaxy phone.

Is it a separate app you need to open?
No general-purpose workflow is described for the package. It is a resource for supported Samsung features, so you are more likely to encounter it as installed software or in device software information than as an app you launch to transcribe anything you choose. The store listing does not say whether it can be disabled or uninstalled, or whether a particular phone requires it.

How large is the package, and what version is listed?
When checked on October 7, 2026, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.’s English (United States) Galaxy Store listing showed version 3.1.08.5, dated September 17, 2026, with a download size of 269.44 MB. The listing presented it as free and showed no expiration date. These details apply to that store listing and may change with later releases or in other language listings.
Should you remove or disable it?
The listing does not establish whether removal or disabling is supported, nor does it identify which device models or software versions use the package. Avoid removing it solely because its name is unfamiliar: doing so could affect a supported speech feature. If you are troubleshooting storage or an app function, first check whether your device offers an update or app-management option for the package and consider which Samsung features you use.

What the listing does not establish
- Which Galaxy models or minimum Android or One UI versions are supported.
- Whether each listed function is available in your region or works completely offline.
- Whether the package can be uninstalled or disabled, or how its updates are controlled.
- A detailed explanation of its privacy or data-flow behavior.
For those specifics, the Galaxy Store description alone is not enough to draw a conclusion; device and feature availability can vary.
