You need hardware matched to your games, target resolution and frame rate, creative applications, media, and whether you stream or record at the same time—not one universal parts list. Start with those workloads, then balance the GPU, CPU, RAM, and storage around them. Software minimum requirements are a floor, not a promise of smooth performance, and the figures below are workload-specific recommendations rather than guarantees.
Start with the games and creative work you actually do
Before comparing components, write down the games you play, the display resolution and frame rate you want, the creative applications you use, and the kind of projects you make. For video work, include footage resolution, codec, effects, and whether several apps will be open at once. Add streaming or recording settings if you do either while gaming. Those details affect which component is likely to matter most.
- Games: GPU needs depend on the specific game, resolution, visual settings, and frame-rate target. Compare measured performance in the games you play rather than relying on a generic GPU ranking.
- Creative applications: Check the application’s current hardware recommendations and whether it uses GPU acceleration or particular codec features.
- Budget: Compare complete, compatible systems against your workload. The guidance here does not establish current prices, best-value parts, or a budget build.
A specific frame-rate promise or parts list would require named games, settings, resolution, budget, and current benchmarks. Without those, the useful answer is a workload-based way to choose.

The GPU is central to many games, can accelerate creative tasks, and may include a hardware video encoder for streaming or recording. Choose it against the games and display settings you intend to use, then check the creative application’s acceleration support and the memory required by your projects.

GPU-memory recommendations differ by source and context. Adobe’s requirements for Premiere version 26.0 recommend 8 GB of GPU memory for Windows, while a separate Adobe recommendation page calls for a GPU with at least 4 GB. Puget Systems’ specialist Premiere guidance scales VRAM recommendations by sequence resolution. These are not interchangeable universal rules:

Puget notes that multistream sequences may need more. Adobe’s figures apply to its own Premiere guidance; Puget’s figures are specialist recommendations, not a guarantee of performance. Check the current requirements for your application and project type. Do you need a separate GPU for streaming and gaming?
Not necessarily. OBS supports hardware encoding through NVIDIA NVENC, AMD AMF, and Intel Quick Sync, subject to generation-specific compatibility. A hardware encoder shifts encoding work to a specialized component and generally reduces CPU load; it does not mean every compatible PC can handle every stream setting. Confirm support for the exact GPU and software version instead of choosing a brand by default. OBS’s hardware encoding guide describes supported encoder options.

How much CPU do gaming and editing need?
The CPU affects game performance and creative tasks, but the evidence does not support one core count as ideal for every workload. Adobe’s Premiere recommendations call for at least eight cores and identify Intel Quick Sync as useful for decoding and playback of H.264 and HEVC on supported systems. Puget Systems cautions that Premiere performance depends on the task and that adding theoretical cores does not always improve it.
For video, account for codec support as well as application performance. For games and creative apps alike, compare tests in the specific software and games you use; a core-count label alone cannot predict the result. See Adobe’s recommendations and Puget Systems’ task-specific guidance.
How much RAM do you need for gaming and video editing?
RAM needs rise with media resolution, project complexity, and the number of applications open at once. Adobe’s requirements for Premiere version 26.0 distinguish a minimum from media-specific guidance; Puget Systems gives higher recommendations for Premiere projects. Treat each figure as guidance for its stated context, not as a general gaming baseline.

Puget’s resolution-based Premiere RAM recommendations are 64 GB for 1080p, 96 GB for 4K, 128 GB for 6K, 192 GB for 8K, and 256 GB for 12K. These are specialist project recommendations, not a population statistic or a requirement for gaming. What storage and networking matter for creative work?
For Premiere, Adobe recommends a fast internal SSD for the application and cache, plus an additional high-speed drive for media. An NVMe SSD is one category to consider for a fast drive, but these recommendations do not establish a required capacity. Size storage for your game library, source media, cache, and archive rather than assuming one number fits every setup.
Network speed becomes relevant if you work from shared storage. For Premiere version 26.0, Adobe specifies 1 Gigabit Ethernet for HD network-storage workflows and 10 Gigabit Ethernet for shared 4K workflows. These are workflow-specific figures, not mandatory features for a gaming-only PC. See Adobe’s requirements.

How to handle gaming while streaming or recording
OBS’s CPU needs vary with the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. OBS states that compatibility alone does not guarantee the machine can stream or record at the chosen settings. Its System Requirements page, dated August 25, 2021, puts that point plainly: “Having a compatible system does not guarantee that it is capable of streaming or recording using OBS Studio.”
Gaming and OBS can also compete for GPU resources. If a stream or recording struggles, treat the following as diagnostic options, not proof that a particular component must be upgraded:

- Try OBS’s Auto Configuration Wizard to establish settings for your system and intended use.
- If the GPU is overloaded, limit the game’s frame rate or lower its graphics settings so OBS has more GPU capacity.
- If performance still suffers, reduce OBS output settings and test again.
OBS explains these remedies in its encoding performance troubleshooting guide. Exact encoder compatibility can change, so verify support for your card and current OBS version before buying around a particular encoder.

Compare complete systems on the right criteria
When weighing candidate PCs or parts, compare the details that correspond to your workload rather than treating one specification as a complete answer:
- Performance in your named games and creative applications.
- Target resolution and frame rate for games, and footage or sequence resolution for creative work.
- GPU memory and system RAM for the project complexity and concurrent apps you expect.
- Codec acceleration and hardware-encoder support if video playback, streaming, or recording is part of the workload.
- Storage speed and capacity for games, media, cache, and archive; include network speed only if you use shared storage.
- Compatibility among components and the total system budget.
Prices, current availability, and game benchmarks are not established here, so a ranked list of specific parts or price-performance claims would need up-to-date testing and pricing.
