In the United States, LG’s limited appliance warranties generally cover defects in materials or workmanship during normal, proper use. Whether LG will repair a particular failure—and whether the warranty pays for parts, labor, or both—depends on the appliance’s exact model, warranty document, component, and coverage period. A longer parts term does not necessarily mean free labor for the same number of years.
What does an LG appliance warranty cover?
LG’s U.S. warranty information says: “If your LG Product fails during the Product’s warranty period, LG will, at its option, repair or replace the Product.” The promise is limited to covered defects and the applicable product terms; it is not a guarantee that LG will replace the whole appliance or cover every breakdown.
LG says its general limited warranty applies when a product is lawfully purchased, installed, and used in the United States, including U.S. territories. The period starts from original delivery or purchase, and LG directs owners to the detailed warranty information supplied with the product for additional terms. Read LG’s U.S. warranty information.
For service, reviewed LG warranty documents require proof of the original retail purchase showing the model and purchase date. The exact warranty supplied with your appliance controls; terms can differ by model, product line, document revision, and purchase circumstances.

How long do LG appliance warranties last?
There is no single duration for every LG appliance. The examples below come from specific model pages or warranty documents, not a company-wide schedule. Parts and labor are shown separately because component extensions may cover the part but leave labor or an in-home service charge to the owner.

LG lists these schedules on the LRFXC2606S refrigerator support page and the WM9900HSA washer support page. The Signature laundry terms are in LG’s laundry warranty documents. Check the warranty for your own model before relying on an example.

Why a long component warranty may not mean a free repair
Some component terms continue after labor coverage ends. For example, an LG refrigerator warranty sheet reviewed for this article provides years six through ten of parts-only coverage for a linear or inverter compressor; the customer pays labor during those years. That sheet is a document-specific schedule, not a universal term for LG refrigerators. Check LG’s refrigerator warranty documents and the terms supplied with your appliance.
Other LG warranty documents also vary
A 2026 LG Signature laundry sheet lists two years of parts and labor for washer internal and functional parts, ten years of parts for the direct-drive motor, and three years of parts for the stainless-steel drum; labor on the motor and drum extensions is the customer’s responsibility. LG’s 2026 gas-range sheet lists one year of parts and labor for internal and functional parts under that document. Neither schedule should be applied to other product lines without checking their terms. Find LG manuals and warranty documents.

Dishwasher schedules illustrate the same issue: an LG Signature sheet lists one year of parts and labor, five years for specified control-board, rack, stainless-steel-liner, and tub items with labor charged, and ten years for the direct-drive motor with labor charged. A separate older standard dishwasher sheet gives a different schedule, including a limited-lifetime term for the tub and liner. The actual model’s warranty document is essential.
What is not covered under an LG appliance warranty?
Exclusions vary by appliance and warranty version. The reviewed LG Signature laundry and 2026 range terms illustrate causes that commonly fall outside limited-warranty coverage:

These examples are not a substitute for your product’s exclusions. The warranty generally addresses covered product defects, not necessarily the cost of correcting a home’s wiring, plumbing, installation, or delivery, or damage to surrounding property. LG’s separate flat-rate repair terms also exclude extensive damage due to fire, flooding, improper gas, electrical or water connections, and infestation, as well as damage to surrounding areas or personal property. How to check your LG warranty by model number
- Find the model and serial numbers. Check the appliance label, then use LG’s support site to open the support page for the exact model. The model-specific warranty sections are more useful than a general schedule.
- Read the warranty supplied with the appliance. Check the document version, coverage start date, and any tables for the failed component. LG says the detailed warranty information delivered with the product supplies additional terms.
- Keep proof of purchase. Save the original receipt or other proof showing the model and purchase date; reviewed LG warranty documents require it for service. LG offers product registration and account access to saved support and warranty information. Open LG warranty information and registration.
- Match the failed component to both parts and labor periods. A component may still have parts coverage after labor coverage ends, so ask what service and in-home charges would apply before arranging a repair.
- Check the likely cause against the exclusions and contact LG. LG handles warranty repair and out-of-warranty repair through separate service options. The specific warranty and LG’s claim decision determine whether a repair qualifies.
What can you do after the original warranty expires?
Optional LG Premium Care
LG Premium Care is an optional extended service plan, not coverage automatically included with the original appliance warranty. LG’s plan page describes coverage for mechanical and electrical breakdowns after the manufacturer warranty expires, subject to plan limits and exclusions, and directs customers to Asurion’s terms. The warranty information page says one-, two-, or three-year plans may be offered and describes parts and labor for mechanical or electrical failure without deductibles. Confirm the plan terms, eligibility, location, and current price before buying or relying on it. Read LG’s Premium Care overview and LG’s warranty information.
Paid LG repair
LG also offers Direct Service for out-of-warranty products. Its diagnostic fee may be waived if you proceed with repair, and LG says the fee can change. LG’s Flat-Rate Repair page listed examples, when accessed in 2026, of $369 for laundry, dishwasher, and cooking repairs and $399 for refrigerator general repairs or sealed-system work, excluding tax. Eligibility is generally for appliances made within the prior seven years, with certain named categories and models eligible up to ten years. LG describes parts and labor as included and a 90-day repair guarantee, subject to exclusions. Prices and eligibility can change, so check the current terms before booking. Check LG Flat-Rate Repair.
