Scroll Capture is Samsung Galaxy’s long-screenshot feature. You take a normal screenshot, tap the Scroll Capture control, and the phone scrolls through additional content so it can save one tall image. It is designed for pages such as articles and websites, but the exact control and availability depend on the Galaxy model, software version and app.
What Scroll Capture means
A conventional screenshot records only what is visible on the display. Scroll Capture extends that screenshot through a scrollable page and combines the visible sections into one elongated image. Samsung’s support material describes long articles and websites as typical uses.
The term is Samsung’s Galaxy product name, not a universal label used by every phone or computer. Another device may use a different name or provide no equivalent function. The instructions below apply to the Galaxy workflow documented by Samsung support.
What you need before starting
- A Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet with a screen that can scroll.
- A page or app view that permits screenshots. Some screens block captures for privacy or security.
- The screenshot toolbar enabled. On supported models, open Settings → Advanced features → Screenshots and screen recorder. Samsung notes that devices without screen recording may show a Screen capture menu instead.
Menu names and locations can differ by model, carrier and software release. First take an ordinary screenshot and confirm that a toolbar appears; Samsung’s guidance says the toolbar must be enabled for Scroll Capture to be available.

How to use Scroll Capture on a Galaxy
- Open the webpage, article or other scrollable content you want to save.
- Press the Power (or Side) button and Volume Down together. Release them promptly, as you would for a standard screenshot.
- When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap the Scroll Capture icon. The phone adds the next portion of the page to the image.
- To continue farther, tap the icon again. Samsung’s Saudi guide also says you can press and hold the icon to keep extending the capture.
- When the image includes everything you need, tap outside the toolbar. The completed capture is saved in Gallery as one image.
Keep the page in its normal scrollable state while the capture runs. If the page reaches its end, or the control stops advancing, finish the capture rather than repeatedly tapping an inactive control.
What the saved image does—and does not—guarantee

Because the phone captures the rendered screen while it scrolls, the result is not guaranteed to reproduce every page identically. A dynamic page can load new content, move an embedded player or change its layout between scroll steps.
If Scroll Capture is missing
The toolbar never appears
Return to Settings → Advanced features → Screenshots and screen recorder (or the model’s Screen capture menu) and enable the screenshot toolbar. Take a standard screenshot again. If no toolbar appears, the setting label or feature may differ on that model.
The Scroll Capture icon is not shown
Check that the current view can actually scroll. The control is intended for content extending beyond the screen; a static screen may not offer it. A protected app can also suppress screenshot controls.

The capture stops early
Samsung says scroll behavior depends on the page. Embedded media, unusually large images or a page that has reached its end can limit the next increment. Try capturing in smaller sections, wait for visible content to finish loading, or save the current image before continuing.
The result looks smaller or difficult to read
The saved image may be scaled down, particularly when it is very long. Zooming the image in Gallery can help inspection, but it does not restore detail that was not captured. For a document that must remain readable on paper, a PDF workflow may be more suitable than one very tall image.
A privacy message or blank result appears
Some screens intentionally prevent screenshots. Do not attempt to bypass an app’s security controls; use an export or sharing function provided by that app instead.
Scroll Capture versus other ways to save a page
Use Scroll Capture when you need a quick visual record from the Galaxy screen and a single image is acceptable. It requires no separate app or account, but it is a manual, device-specific process and its output can vary with page behavior.

A browser or website-screenshot service is more useful when you need repeatable captures, automation, a selectable viewport, or a PDF rather than a tall phone image. That approach loads the URL independently of your phone, so it can also capture a page when the Galaxy app blocks screenshots. It does not grant permission to capture restricted content; access, authentication and site policies still apply.
