The official site’s latest listed release is version 1.7.3, dated October 23, 2008. Its published installation guide specifies PHP 5.x and MySQL 4.1 or later, so the documentation does not establish compatibility with current server software.
What eTicket does
The eTicketSupport documentation describes eTicket as a PHP-based electronic support ticket system. Customers can submit requests through a web form or send them by email, with email intake documented through POP3 or piping. The application includes a ticket manager, and the site says its interface can be skinned to match a website. What the documented installation involves
The official installation guide is historical: it calls for a web server running PHP 5.x and MySQL 4.1 or later. Those requirements should not be taken as confirmation that eTicket runs safely or correctly on present-day PHP, database, or web-server versions. eTicket installation guide
- Download and extract the eTicket package.
- Upload the files to the web server and create a MySQL database.
- Temporarily allow writes to
settings.phpandpipe.php, as the guide instructs. - Open the installation path in a browser and follow the installer.
- After installation, tighten file permissions and remove the install directory, as directed by the guide.
The documentation describes two email-processing approaches: POP3 and piping. It recommends configuring SpamAssassin before using piping. These instructions describe the published setup, not a guarantee that either method works with a particular modern hosting environment.

Release status and compatibility limits
The official site lists eTicket 1.7.3, dated October 23, 2008, as its latest release. A dated release listing does not establish whether support, security fixes, or current compatibility guidance remain available. eTicketSupport eTicket download page
A separate public GitHub repository also says the last released version was 1.7.3 in 2008 and discusses an intended public development effort. That description does not show that the official package was updated, or that the repository and official package are identical. GitHub repository

For comparison only, the current osTicket download page lists releases dated June 17, 2026 and requirements of PHP 8.2–8.4 and MySQL 5.5 or later. osTicket is a different product; its published requirements do not indicate whether eTicket works with those versions. osTicket download page
Check the license for the exact package
The official eTicket about page says the license changed after version 1.5.7, describes the product as not open source under the OSI definition, and says redistribution of the software requires written permission. Since the available descriptions do not establish that this is the same package and version covered by the official licensing page, verify the license attached to the exact source you intend to install, modify, or redistribute. The documented self-hosted model and email/web-form intake may be relevant if you are evaluating an existing installation or investigating the project. However, the published release and setup information are old, and the sources do not establish current security maintenance, runtime compatibility, or support. Do not assume it is suitable for a new production deployment without verifying those points for the specific package and environment.

If you are deciding whether to keep or replace an existing instance, compare candidate systems on supported PHP and database versions, security-maintenance policy, migration support for existing tickets, intake channels, licensing and redistribution rights, and hosting model. The available eTicket documentation establishes historical requirements and intake options, but not current support or migration behavior.
