CoreTechnologie 4D_Additive is an industrial 3D-printing preparation platform, not just a slicer. It brings CAD import and repair, build preparation, nesting, slicing, support generation, analysis and production export into one application. Its published workflow covers SLS, SLM, MJF, SLA and FDM, with a vendor-stated database of more than 250 predefined printer systems.
What 4D_Additive does
4D_Additive is designed to take parts from engineering data toward manufacturing-ready builds. Its workflow combines geometry preparation with process-specific build setup, so teams can work with CAD models and tessellated files before exporting data for production. CoreTechnologie describes it as an all-in-one industrial 3D-printing application.
The product page lists native CAD and tessellated-format import, geometry repair and optimization, nesting, and production-file export. Its documented process coverage includes SLS, SLM, MJF, SLA and FDM. CoreTechnologie says the printer database includes more than 250 predefined systems; that figure describes the vendor’s database, not a guarantee of a direct connection to every printer.
CAD formats, repair and model preparation
4D_Additive is intended to work with engineering CAD as well as mesh and exchange data. The named formats include CATIA, NX, SOLIDWORKS, Creo, Inventor, STEP, JT, STL and 3MF, alongside other formats listed by CoreTechnologie. This mix can help a team prepare models without making mesh conversion the only route into the workflow.

Repair tools address geometry defects such as gaps, overlapping faces and twisted faces. The application also offers direct modeling and cutting tools, plus part analysis. These capabilities are relevant when an imported design needs cleanup or inspection before it is arranged and prepared for a specific build process.
Nesting and build optimization
Nesting places parts within a build volume. 4D_Additive includes AI-assisted 2D and 3D nesting, build-density controls, heat optimization, automatic part marking and spacing that accounts for part thickness. These tools target different constraints: packing more parts into a build, managing thermal behavior, and retaining suitable separation between parts.

CoreTechnologie reported on June 26, 2024, that AI-supported nesting in 4D_Additive 1.6 delivered an average 30% efficiency increase for SLS and MJF printers compared with the previous version and other common nesting tools. This is the vendor’s reported comparison, not an independently verified result or a promised gain for every printer, part mix or build.
Slicing, supports and additive-process coverage
The software’s capabilities extend beyond nesting. CoreTechnologie lists slicing and hatching for FDM, SLA and DLP, as well as build-management strategies for SLS and SLM. Support generation is also available, with revised support structures for SLM described in a January 2025 release.

Additional design-preparation features include lattice structures and surface textures. Once a build is prepared, users can export manufacturing data such as STL, 3MF and G-code, along with related production formats. The precise output depends on the process and target equipment; the existence of a printer in the database should not be read as evidence that every system uses the same export route.
Build History and production workflow
Build History lets users review and edit preparation steps. That can be useful when a build needs adjustment or a team needs to revisit how it was set up, rather than treating the prepared result as an uneditable endpoint.

CoreTechnologie has also announced an integration with Phasio. The announced connection links 4D_Additive with production management, nesting and real-time workflow updates, extending the software’s role beyond geometry and build preparation into production coordination. The announcement establishes the integration, but does not by itself specify availability, licensing, or support for every customer configuration; confirm those details with CoreTechnologie or Phasio.

- Printer and process fit: Check the required machine models and whether the intended workflow is SLS, SLM, MJF, SLA, FDM or another supported process. Confirm whether the connection is a direct printer link, a database profile or a file-export workflow.
- CAD fidelity: Test representative native CAD and exchange files, especially complex assemblies or geometry that has caused import problems in existing tools.
