An Amazon Hub Counter is a staffed place where you can collect or, where offered, return an Amazon package with help from a store associate. Unlike an Amazon Locker, it is not self-service: you show the pickup barcode to staff, who assist with the handoff. Available services and deadlines depend on the location and the order.
What an Amazon Hub Counter is
Amazon Shipping defines its HELIX Counter access point as an assisted location where customers interact with a store associate to collect or return packages. In everyday terms, it is a staffed pickup-and-return point. A particular Counter may offer pickup, returns, or both; check the services shown for that location rather than assuming every site handles every task. Amazon Shipping’s access-point documentation distinguishes these staffed Counters from self-service Locker types.

How pickup works
- Select a location: During checkout, choose an available nearby pickup point if one is offered for your order.
- Wait for the pickup details: In the Amazon Shipping flow documented in its Deliver to Counter tutorial, Amazon sends the pickup barcode and location details by email or SMS after shipment.
- Go to the Counter: Present the barcode to the store associate to collect the parcel. Follow the location details and any deadline in your notification.
The cited tutorial gives customers seven days to collect parcels in that specific service flow. It is not a universal deadline for every Hub Counter market or order; use the deadline in your own pickup notice.

The distinction in service style and access-point type comes from Amazon Shipping’s access-point definitions. Do not assume the two options have identical hours, return services, or collection deadlines.

Can you return a package at a Counter?
Some Counters accept returns, but the return choices offered for your item and location determine whether you can use one. In the US, Amazon’s return help explains that eligible label-free, box-free returns provide a QR code. If that method is offered, take the item and QR code to the selected drop-off point without boxing it. A QR code does not mean every Counter accepts that return: follow the location selected in the return flow and its instructions.

At Whole Foods Market, these are separate options with different functions. Its Amazon returns information describes staffed Customer Service Desks for returns, staffed Amazon Counters for pickups and returns, and self-service Amazon Returns Kiosks for returns. Whole Foods says all its stores accept returns, but that does not mean every store has a pickup Counter; some services are available only at select stores. Check the store finder and the specific location’s listed services.
What to check before you go
- Whether the location offers pickup, returns, or the particular service you need.
- The address, opening hours, and any instructions in the order or return notification.
- The collection deadline shown for your shipment.
- For returns, the method and packaging requirements offered for that item and selected drop-off location.
Coverage, hours, and deadlines vary, and there is no single list or schedule in these sources that establishes them for every market. Use Amazon’s checkout location selector or the return flow for current options tied to your order.
