Fortnite skins and other cosmetics you already earned stay tied to your Epic account when a season ends. If you earned a Pass reward but did not manually claim it, Epic says it will be added to your Locker the next time you log in, provided you reached the required level. You cannot resume or buy the expired Pass itself. Getting an unowned item later is a separate question: some items from future Battle Passes might appear in the Item Shop under Epic’s post-August 7, 2024 policy, but a return is never guaranteed.
What happens to skins and rewards you already earned?
Ending a season does not by itself remove cosmetics you earned. Epic says unclaimed Pass rewards are automatically delivered to your Locker the next time you log in, as long as you reached the level required for each reward. In other words, manually clicking to claim an earned reward is different from earning it in the first place. Epic Games Support explains the unclaimed-reward rule.
Cosmetics are associated with the Epic account where they were obtained. Epic does not support transferring them manually to another account, and trading cosmetics is not supported. Epic’s account-transfer guidance covers the restriction.

No. Epic says you cannot purchase or progress a Pass for a season that has ended. That rule applies to the Pass, not necessarily every item that appeared in it: later Shop availability is a separate possibility under Epic’s policy for certain future Pass items. Can an unowned Battle Pass skin return to the Item Shop?
Possibly, but do not treat the policy as a release schedule. In an announcement published August 7, 2024, Epic said items in future Fortnite Battle Passes might be offered in the Shop 18 or more months after the Pass expires. The policy can apply to more than Outfits: Epic lists categories including Back Blings, Pickaxes, Emotes, Instruments, Decals, Wraps, Loading Screens, Banner Icons, and other items. Bonus Rewards and Quest Rewards may also be eligible. Read Epic’s August 7, 2024 announcement.
The 18-month mark is the earliest stated window for a possible offer, not a promise that an item will be sold then—or ever. Epic says selection depends on various factors and there is no guarantee a Battle Pass item will come to the Shop. Epic Support also says it cannot grant items or offers that are not currently available in the Item Shop. Check the Shop-return guidance from Epic Support and the live Shop rather than relying on a rumored return date.
The announced change concerns future Battle Passes; Epic’s Support page identifies Chapter 5 Season 4 as its starting point. Do not assume that older Pass-exclusive items qualify just because the later policy exists. Epic also notes that an item may return with a different number of alternate styles than it had in the Pass.

What changes when a crossover or licensed skin leaves?
A crossover skin’s licensing situation is distinct from the Battle Pass return policy. Epic’s End User License Agreement says offers may be removed if a license contract ends and Epic no longer has the distribution rights. It also says continued access to specific in-game content is not guaranteed. Those terms describe a general possibility; they do not establish that any named Fortnite crossover skin is scheduled for removal, will never return, or has a particular licensing deadline. That distinction matters: an item’s absence from the Shop does not, on its own, prove that a license expired. Without an item-specific Epic announcement, there is no sound basis for predicting a particular crossover skin’s future availability. If you already own a cosmetic, its account association is separate from whether the same item is currently offered to new buyers.
