The Dreaming City has not been announced for removal. Bungie’s Destiny Content Vault page lists it among the destinations available as of Update 9.7.0, June 9, 2026. If Bungie ever vaults it, the stated policy is that its Triumph sets and Seals become Legacy: completed progress remains viewable, retired Triumph score no longer counts toward Active Triumph Score, and Titles you already earned remain equippable. Bungie has removed quests from inventories in past vaulting transitions, but it has not specified how every Dreaming City quest or Collections record would be handled in a hypothetical move.
Is the Dreaming City leaving Destiny 2?
No removal is announced in Bungie’s current listing. Its Destiny Content Vault page describes the game’s content baseline as of Update 9.7.0, June 9, 2026, and includes the Dreaming City among available destinations. That is its current listed status, not a guarantee of indefinite availability.

The Dreaming City also remained available during the 2022 transition that vaulted the Forsaken campaign and Tangled Shore. Bungie said at the time, “The Dreaming City destination will continue to be available.” That statement describes the 2022 change only; it does not promise that the destination will never be vaulted.
What would happen to Dreaming City Triumphs and Seals?
Bungie’s guidance for vaulted destinations says their associated Triumph sets and Seals move to Legacy. Completed Triumphs and their earned score remain visible in the Legacy area, but that archived score no longer contributes to Active Triumph Score. A Title already earned from a Legacy Seal remains available to equip.

- From the makers of the acclaimed hit game Destiny, comes the much-anticipated sequel
- An action shooter that takes you on an epic journey across the solar system
- Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion
- To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home
Bungie repeated these practical points in its Update 3.0.0.1 notes: destination Triumph sets move to Legacy when a destination is vaulted, completed progress and score remain viewable, Legacy score is excluded from Active Triumph Score, and completed Legacy Seal Titles can still be equipped.
This policy addresses completed progress. It does not promise that unfinished Dreaming City Triumphs would remain completable after access to the destination ends.

Would Collections items and records disappear?
Bungie’s broad DCV explanation says that when a destination enters the Vault, its PvE content is no longer available. That includes destination activities and features such as patrols, Lost Sectors, collectibles, and scannables. Losing access to a place or activity, however, is not the same as deleting an item or record a player already acquired.

Bungie would need to specify those details in a transition notice; it would be unsafe to assume either that all such records would be erased or that every one would remain unchanged.

Could Bungie remove unfinished quests?
Yes, past vaulting transitions show that Bungie can remove quests tied to content leaving the game. Before Year 5 began on February 22, 2022, Bungie said that bounties, missions, and quests associated with a specified list of vaulted destinations, campaigns, and seasons would be removed from inventories. It also moved WANTED Bounties and Enemies Triumphs under the Tangled Shore Triumph area in the Legacy Archive.
That is precedent, not a Dreaming City-specific forecast. Bungie’s later Year 7 and Year 8 item notices separately listed content being deprecated for those transitions. These notices show why players should look for the exact inventory and reward rules Bungie publishes for a particular change rather than assume every quest will be treated the same way.

What should players do if a removal is announced?
- Check Bungie’s transition notice. Look for the effective date and explicit rules covering quests, Triumphs, Collections, and rewards.
- Finish destination-dependent steps before that date if they matter to you. The stated Triumph policy does not guarantee that unfinished objectives remain completable, and past transitions have removed quests from inventories.
- Do not count on a replacement way to earn a reward unless Bungie confirms one. Past notices have sometimes described alternate acquisition routes, but none establishes a future route for a Dreaming City quest reward.
Bungie describes the DCV as a continuing content model in which some destinations and activities can leave and content may return. Its 2022 statement that expansions would no longer be vaulted concerns expansions; it is not a promise that destinations or activities will never leave.
