There is no single U.S. price for GLP-1 weight-loss drugs. Your cost depends on the exact medicine and formulation, why it is prescribed, your insurance plan’s rules, and whether you qualify for a manufacturer offer. As of October 4, 2026, eligible Medicare beneficiaries may have a specific temporary coverage route; commercial-plan and self-pay amounts vary.
What GLP-1 weight-loss drugs cost
The figures below are offers listed on official manufacturer or government pages checked on October 4, 2026. They are not universal retail prices or guarantees of what you will pay. Manufacturer offer terms and eligibility can change, so check the linked page before relying on an amount.
| Payment route | Listed cost or offer | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Medicare GLP-1 Bridge | $50 per month for eligible beneficiaries with Part D coverage | Temporary program scheduled to run July 1, 2026–December 31, 2027. Covered formulations are Foundayo tablets, Wegovy tablets or injections, and Zepbound KwikPen; single-dose Zepbound pens and vials are excluded. Medicare eligibility and coverage details and the CMS Bridge page explain requirements and exclusions. |
| Wegovy commercial-insurance savings offer | As little as $25 monthly for eligible patients | Subject to a maximum savings amount and exclusions; this does not establish that a particular plan covers Wegovy or that every covered patient qualifies. See Wegovy cost and coverage terms. |
| Wegovy pill self-pay offer | $149 monthly for 1.5 mg; $199 for 4 mg; $299 for 9 mg or 25 mg | Amounts listed by Novo Nordisk for the specified doses, subject to offer eligibility and terms. The page also lists separate offers for certain starter doses and the 7.2 mg pen; check its current terms for those amounts. Offer details. |
| Zepbound KwikPen savings-card offer | As low as $299 monthly for 2.5 mg; $399 for 5 mg; $449 for 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, or 15 mg | Dose-specific amounts listed by Eli Lilly for certain commercially insured patients under the savings-card terms; eligibility restrictions and maximum monthly savings apply. The page says card purchases are for self-paying patients and cannot be applied to a third-party payer’s deductible or true out-of-pocket requirements. See Zepbound savings and insurance terms. |
These are different payment arrangements, not prices to compare without context. A plan’s negotiated or patient price can differ from a manufacturer offer, and a savings card may not count toward insurance cost-sharing. For Medicaid, coverage is state- and program-specific; these figures do not establish whether a state Medicaid program covers a particular drug for weight management.
How to check insurance coverage and estimate your cost
Check the exact prescription against your own plan rather than relying on a general drug price or a manufacturer’s “as little as” claim. Before contacting the insurer or pharmacy-benefit manager (PBM), note the medicine, formulation, dose, prescribed indication, plan name, and benefit year.

- Identify the exact product and formulation. Ask about the prescribed product—not just the active ingredient. Wegovy tablet and injection coverage may differ, as may Zepbound KwikPen and single-dose products. Formulation also determines whether the Medicare Bridge or a specific savings offer applies.
- Confirm the indication. Ask whether the plan covers the drug for weight management or for the specific condition written on the prescription. Coverage can differ by indication. For Medicare, some uses may be coverable under the ordinary Part D benefit; CMS identifies specified cardiovascular risk reduction for Wegovy and moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity for Zepbound as examples. Check CMS information for Part D plans and ask your plan which route applies.
- Check the current formulary and restrictions. Ask whether the exact product and indication are covered for the current benefit year, whether it is preferred, and whether prior authorization, step therapy, or quantity limits apply. If prior authorization is needed, ask which clinical information the prescriber must submit and how long a decision usually takes.
- Request your expected amount for the actual fill. Ask the plan or pharmacy to estimate your cost at the prescribed dose and pharmacy, accounting for any deductible, copay or coinsurance, and coverage limits. A listed savings-card amount is not a substitute for this estimate.
- Check offer eligibility and its cap. Read the current manufacturer terms for the exact formulation and dose. Confirm that your insurance type is eligible, whether a maximum monthly savings limit applies, and whether the offer can be used with your plan. Government-program exclusions may apply.
- Compare the full-year effect of cash or discount pricing. A lower price at one fill may not be the least costly route across the year. Medicare advises comparing discount-site prices with plan prices: purchases outside the Part D plan do not count toward the Part D deductible or annual out-of-pocket limit. Ask the plan or pharmacist to explain how each option affects your coverage accumulation.
- For Medicare, verify the Bridge route as well as ordinary Part D coverage. Use the current Medicare eligibility page, confirm the product and indication, and ask the prescriber or pharmacy whether the prescription should be processed through the Bridge or the plan.
A useful question for the insurer is: “For [exact product and formulation], at [dose], prescribed for [indication], what will I owe at this pharmacy this benefit year, and what authorization or step-therapy rules apply?” Ask for the response in writing or save a screenshot of the formulary result and estimate.
Who may qualify for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge?
The Medicare Bridge is a temporary route for some people with Part D drug coverage, not a general Medicare price for every GLP-1 prescription. Medicare’s listed clinical pathways require the person to be at least 18 and meet one of the following criteria:

A prescriber must submit a prescription and, if requested, prior authorization. The provider must also certify participation in a lifestyle program focused on diet and exercise. Exclusions and other details apply, so confirm current eligibility on Medicare.gov.
The Bridge operates outside the ordinary Part D benefit payment flow. CMS says Bridge purchases do not count toward Part D covered-drug spending in the usual way, and the Bridge copayment does not count toward the beneficiary’s Part D true out-of-pocket amount. If the drug is already coverable under basic Part D for the prescribed indication, the person does not qualify for the Bridge for that drug and indication; ask the plan which coverage route applies. See CMS guidance for Part D plans.

Why the amount on a savings page may not be your cost
Coverage and savings offers answer different questions
A formulary tells you whether your plan covers a product and under what conditions. A manufacturer offer describes possible savings for people meeting its terms. An “as little as” figure does not confirm that your plan covers the drug, that the offer applies to you, or what you will owe after your plan’s cost-sharing rules.
The formulation and indication matter
Coverage and offers can distinguish among a tablet, injection, KwikPen, or single-dose product, and between weight management and another medically accepted indication. Verify both details with the insurer and the offer provider before comparing amounts.

- CONTOURED BOTTOMS: Planner compartments have contoured bottoms so retrieving your medication out of the planner is simple

Cash and discount-card purchases can affect insurance accumulation
A cash price can reduce the amount paid today, but it may not advance your deductible or out-of-pocket limit. For Medicare beneficiaries, discount-card spending outside Part D does not count toward either the Part D deductible or annual out-of-pocket limit. Compare the immediate payment with the value of plan accumulation and coverage protections over the full year.
What to have ready before calling
- The exact drug, formulation, and prescribed dose.
- The indication on the prescription.
- Your insurer, plan or PBM, and benefit year.
- Your preferred pharmacy and whether mail order is an option under the plan.
- Any formulary result, prior-authorization criteria, or manufacturer-offer terms you want the representative to confirm.
For Medicare, also confirm Part D enrollment and whether the listed Bridge criteria and formulation fit your situation. For commercial coverage, ask the insurer or PBM for its plan-specific estimate; the manufacturer’s Wegovy page likewise directs patients to check coverage and notes that out-of-pocket cost depends on insurance.
