DrishtiJS is an npm package described as a JavaScript framework CLI with a bundled runtime for creating and running Drishti applications. Its published documentation shows a project-scaffolding and command-line workflow, but it does not establish whether the framework’s underlying programming model is genuinely new or derived from an existing approach. “Drishti” is also used by unrelated projects, so this article concerns the npm JavaScript package specifically.

What DrishtiJS is documented to do

The DrishtiJS npm listing describes it as “a JavaScript framework CLI with a bundled runtime for creating and running Drishti applications.” In practical terms, the visible product surface is a CLI that can scaffold an application and run it with a bundled runtime.

The listing documents JavaScript, TypeScript, and TSX as source options. Its example project-creation command is:

npx drishtijs@latest create app my-app --typescript

It also lists npx create-drishti my-app --typescript as another entry point. Installation is documented as:

npm install drishtijs

The package says installation downloads only the native CLI payload for the user’s operating system; a separate global drish installation is not required.

What the documented workflow looks like

For a generated app, the listing documents these npm scripts:

  • npm run dev to run the development script
  • npm start to start the app
  • npm test to run tests
  • npm run build to build the app

It also documents these CLI commands:

npx drish help
npx drish --version
npx drish create app my-app --typescript
npx drish run .

The listing says files created under app/css/ are applied automatically while an app runs. It describes drish run --dev-editor as enabling development-only tools, including a CSS editor and a mobile conversion launcher. These are documented workflow features; the listing alone does not demonstrate how they behave in a real project.

Does that make DrishtiJS a new kind of framework?

Not by itself. A CLI, bundled runtime, scaffolding command, and familiar language choices describe how developers obtain and start an application. They do not reveal the framework’s core design.

The published listing does not explain DrishtiJS’s rendering model, component or state model, routing, build pipeline, server-rendering behavior, or interoperability with existing JavaScript packages. Without those details, there is no sound basis for calling its programming model either novel or a tweak to a particular established framework.

The visible differentiator in the available documentation is the bundled CLI/runtime and app-scaffolding workflow. Whether that is accompanied by a distinct framework architecture would require detailed official architecture documentation or source-code inspection, followed by a concrete comparison of how applications are written, rendered, routed, built, deployed, and integrated with other packages.

What the package signals say about maturity

The npm listing reported version 1.0.11 and 56 weekly downloads in a captured 2026 registry snapshot, describing the version as published 14 days earlier. The publisher’s npm profile separately listed version 1.0.11 as published 13 days earlier. Those publication-age figures differ, likely because the results were captured at different times; registry metadata is volatile, so the download count should be treated as a snapshot rather than a stable measure of adoption.

The publisher profile identifies “Drishti JS” and lists packages for the framework CLI/runtime and scaffolding entry points. That supports the existence of a small package family, not a conclusion about the size of its user community, quality, or architectural originality. There is no independent benchmark or technical review in the available evidence to establish performance, productivity, bundle size, developer-experience advantages, or production readiness.

Platforms listed by the package

The npm listing states support for macOS on Apple Silicon and Intel, Linux x64, and Windows x64. This is the package’s published support statement, not an independent compatibility test.

How to judge it before choosing it

For an initial experiment, the documented scaffolding command provides a way to see the project structure and try the stated JavaScript, TypeScript, or TSX workflow. That can answer practical setup questions, but it cannot establish whether the framework is a good fit for a production application.

To assess the deeper technical question, look for documentation or code that lets you verify:

  • How components, state, and application structure are expressed
  • How rendering and runtime execution work
  • How routing and data flow are handled
  • How builds and deployments are produced
  • Which existing JavaScript packages can be used and how they integrate
  • What documentation, ecosystem support, and migration path exist

Then compare those details with an established framework using the same kind of application. The CLI workflow is relevant to setup; it is not a substitute for evidence about architecture, compatibility, or long-term maintenance.

Keep the name straight

Drishti is an ambiguous name used by unrelated projects, including a scientific visualization project associated with the National Computational Infrastructure. Those projects are not evidence about the npm JavaScript framework discussed here.
