GRWM means “get ready with me.” On social media, it usually labels a video in which a creator gets ready for a day, event, or activity—often while chatting, narrating, or telling a story. It is not limited to makeup: a GRWM might show skincare, hair, choosing an outfit, grooming, or other preparations.
How people use GRWM
GRWM is an initialism made from the first letters of “get ready with me.” You may see it as the hashtag #GRWM, in a video title or caption, or used as a noun for the video itself—for example, “I watched a GRWM.” On TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, it signals that the creator is bringing viewers along while preparing for something.
The preparation might be for work, school, a date, or an event. Videos can show the routine in sequence, use edited clips or a time-lapse, or have the creator speak to camera while getting ready.

Is GRWM specific to TikTok?
No. GRWM is used across social-video platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. TikTok’s official feature on the hashtag includes creator examples involving skincare and grooming, while YouTube has described GRWM videos as a continuing genre. The precise style varies: one video may focus on a routine, while another uses getting ready as a backdrop for conversation or a story.

How popular are GRWM videos?
Think with Google reported that YouTube Shorts videos with “GRWM” in the title received more than 7.2 billion views in India in 2024. That figure is specific to India, YouTube Shorts, titles containing “GRWM,” and the year 2024; it is not a current worldwide count of all GRWM videos. GRWM versus a makeup tutorial
A makeup tutorial is generally framed around teaching a makeup technique or showing how to achieve a particular look. A GRWM is broader: it follows some part of getting ready, and conversation or storytelling may matter as much as the routine. A GRWM can include makeup, but it does not have to.
