A T-Con (timing-control) board helps coordinate the image displayed on an LED TV. If it fails, the picture may show faults such as a broken portion of the screen, lines, or incorrect colors—but those symptoms alone do not confirm a T-Con problem. Diagnosis and replacement-part matching should be based on the exact TV model.
What a T-Con board does
“T-Con” is short for timing control. The board is part of the TV’s display-control path and helps coordinate the image on the screen. Its precise role and arrangement can vary by television design; the available service documentation supports this high-level description, not a universal account of every internal signal or circuit.
Possible signs of a T-Con problem
Image faults can point toward a display-control problem, but none of the symptoms below proves that the T-Con board is defective.

- Dark picture with the backlight on: In one Samsung UN60FH6003 repair case, the TV had sound and backlight but a dark picture.
- Inverted colors, vertical lines, or half the screen without a picture: The same repair guide lists these as other image faults relevant to its repair. iFixit’s Samsung UN60FH6003 repair guide.
These are clues, not a parts-ordering checklist. Similar picture problems can have other causes, including the main board or another display subsystem. - 3. Before purchasing, please match the circuit board shown in the photo with the original one in the TV and confirm that they are consistent before purchasing.
- 4. If your TV breaks down, please ask a TV repairman to confirm whether the problem lies with the TV logic board. If the problem is confirmed, then buy a new one.
How to confirm the cause
- Identify the exact TV model. Use the model designation from the TV’s label or its documentation; do not rely on screen size or brand alone.
- Compare the symptom with that model’s service documentation. A symptom example from another model is not a diagnosis for yours.
- Follow the model-specific service procedure. The fault may involve the T-Con, main board, panel, cable, or another subsystem. The Samsung repair guide considered both T-Con and main-board failure, even though it judged the T-Con more likely in that particular case.
- Confirm the faulty part before ordering. A matching symptom does not establish that replacing the T-Con will fix the TV.
How to match a replacement T-Con board
Replacement boards are model-specific. Check the full TV model and the number printed on the existing board, then verify compatibility against reliable parts information or the TV’s service documentation before buying.
For example, the iFixit guide identifies the Samsung UN60FH6003 timing-control board as BN96-28944A (BN97-07663B). That match applies to the documented Samsung case; it is not a compatibility recommendation for other TVs. The sources do not establish a universal repair cost, success rate, or difficulty across models.
