Samsung Chromebooks do not all use the same charger. Many models charge through USB-C, but the required wattage varies; some older models use a dedicated DC-In power adapter instead. Check the full model number on your Chromebook and match its connector and power requirements to Samsung’s specifications before buying a replacement.
How to identify the right Samsung Chromebook charger
- Find the model number. Check the label on the device or its system information. Use the full model code, not just a family name such as “Chromebook Plus.”
- Look up the model’s Samsung specifications or manual. Confirm whether it charges by USB-C or DC-In, and note the adapter wattage. For models that specify USB Power Delivery, check that requirement too.
- Match the replacement to the specification. Confirm both the connector and the power requirements. A plug that fits—or the fact that a charger is USB-C—does not by itself establish that it is suitable for your Chromebook.
When shopping, search for a replacement charger for the exact Samsung Chromebook model, then verify the listing against Samsung’s specification. A broad search such as “Samsung Chromebook charger” is only a starting point; refine it using the model code.

Samsung’s specifications for the exact model and regional variant are the authority. Do not assume that a charger listed for one Chromebook in a family is right for another.

Can you use any USB-C charger?
No single answer applies to every Samsung Chromebook. If your model charges over USB-C, Samsung Support says, “If your Chromebook has a USB-C charger, you can use any USB-C port.” That guidance is about which port to use on the Chromebook; it does not say that every USB-C adapter meets every model’s power requirements. Check the model specification before choosing an adapter. See Samsung Support’s charging guidance.
Do all Samsung Chromebooks use USB-C?
No. The Chromebook 3 XE500C13, for example, is specified with a DC-In port and a 26 W AC adapter. That older model is a clear exception to the assumption that every Samsung Chromebook charges through USB-C. Verify the port and adapter for your own model rather than relying on the brand or approximate age alone.

What to expect while charging
Samsung notes that using a Chromebook while it charges may increase charging time. If charging seems slower during active use, the device may take longer to replenish its battery; this does not identify whether the adapter is correct. Check the model’s stated charging requirements if you are unsure about the charger.
