Vodafone has not stated a minimum broadband speed for its new UK Vodafone TV service. Its September 2026 launch announcement and general UK broadband guidance do not set a Vodafone TV-specific Mbps requirement. Netflix speed recommendations quoted in Vodafone’s guide can help estimate bandwidth for Netflix streams, but they are not Vodafone TV requirements.

Is there a minimum broadband speed for Vodafone TV in the UK?

Not one established in Vodafone’s UK launch announcement or the general broadband guidance reviewed here. Vodafone announced the new UK service on 3 September 2026, describing its set-top box and entertainment features without specifying a minimum internet speed. Its general streaming guide also does not give a Vodafone TV threshold. See Vodafone’s launch announcement and Vodafone UK’s broadband speed guide.

That means there is no supported UK Vodafone TV minimum to use as a firm eligibility test. Check Vodafone’s current UK setup guidance or service terms for any later-published requirement.

What do the published streaming figures tell you?

Vodafone UK’s guide relays Netflix recommendations for streaming on one device. These figures are useful as rough guidance for Netflix, not as Vodafone TV requirements or a guarantee of picture quality.

Netflix stream resolution Recommended speed per device Attribution
HD 3 Mbps Netflix recommendation reported by Vodafone UK in 2023
Full HD 5 Mbps Netflix recommendation reported by Vodafone UK in 2023
Ultra HD (4K) 15 Mbps Netflix recommendation reported by Vodafone UK in 2023

Vodafone’s example says three simultaneous Netflix Ultra HD streams would use 45 Mbps in total, based on the 15 Mbps-per-device recommendation. That is an illustration of concurrent Netflix use, not a recommended broadband plan speed for Vodafone TV. Other people and devices in the home also share the connection, so leave capacity for their activity.

Why can a stream buffer even if the broadband speed seems sufficient?

The speed reaching your home and the connection between your router and TV are different parts of the experience. Vodafone notes that device count, router placement, nearby Wi-Fi interference and home wiring can affect the throughput devices actually receive. Streams may adapt to available bandwidth, while unreliable Wi-Fi can cause buffering or lower picture quality. Vodafone explains these factors in its guide to broadband sync and throughput.

  • Weak Wi-Fi coverage: An extender or mesh network may help reach a dead zone, but it does not increase the speed of the broadband line itself.
  • Several active devices: Downloads, video calls, games and other streams compete for available capacity, alongside the TV stream.

Are Vodafone Ireland’s 20 Mbps and 28 Mbps figures UK requirements?

No. Vodafone Ireland’s terms dated 27 September 2023 specify 20 Mbps for Vodafone TV and 28 Mbps for wireless multi-room viewing, and apply to the Republic of Ireland. They do not establish the requirement for Vodafone’s separate, newly announced UK service. The figures appear in Vodafone Ireland’s TV terms.

Does the new Vodafone TV box’s 4K capability change the answer?

Vodafone’s UK announcement describes an Android TV set-top box with 4K, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, alongside Freely, Netflix, HBO Max, apps and games. It lists 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage for the box; those are hardware specifications, not broadband requirements. A device’s ability to display 4K does not itself establish the speed needed for every app or stream.
