Square Enix showed footage from the final recording sessions for Final Fantasy VII Revelation at a New York City Comic Con panel, according to a Kotaku report published October 8, 2026. Kotaku says the footage shows Briana White, the English voice of Aerith, and Britt Baron, the English voice of Tifa, crying in the recording booth. The same footage mixes those moments with comedy, including a line from Sephiroth about his favorite Doritos flavor being Cool Ranch.
The emotional framing in the headline comes from Kotaku’s account of the footage. The sources available for this article do not include the footage itself, so the reactions described below are as Kotaku reported them, not as independently observed.
What the reported footage shows
According to Kotaku’s reporting by Kenneth Shepard, the panel featured many of the remake trilogy’s main performers. The footage came from some of the last sessions for the game, and Kotaku describes it as alternating between tender and comic material. The two performers named in the report are the English actors for the game’s two most prominent female leads, which is why the emotional focus has landed on them.
Kotaku does not provide a transcript of the footage or a complete account of what each performer said, so the scene-level details available are limited to what the report describes.

Where the footage was shown and whether it is public
The footage was screened at a live panel, not released as a standalone video in the material reviewed for this article. The reporting does not establish whether Square Enix has posted the clip publicly or plans to. Readers looking for the footage should check Square Enix’s official channels and the panel’s recorded coverage, if any exists, rather than relying on secondhand clips.
Sephiroth’s English role is changing hands
Kotaku reports that Travis Willingham is taking over the English role of Sephiroth in Revelation, and that the reason is scheduling issues involving Tyler Hoechlin. The footage reportedly showed Willingham performing the role behind the scenes for the first time. This casting explanation comes from Kotaku; Square Enix’s store page, which is the official source reviewed, does not address it.
How the game is positioned
Kotaku frames Revelation as the conclusion of Square Enix’s remake trilogy. The first game in the trilogy launched in 2020. The reporter notes that how far Revelation may depart from the original Final Fantasy VII story remains unclear, and that assessment is Kotaku’s, not an official plot summary.
