Indianapolis police responded to a report of a person shot near Warren Central High School after the school’s October 2, 2026, football game against Lawrence North. The first report described one victim; a later local report said two people—a boy and a girl—were injured. The available coverage does not establish who fired, a motive, or any connection between the shooting and the game.
1. Police responded to a report of a person shot
IndyStar reporter Kyle Neddenriep reported that Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded Friday night, October 2, to a report of a person shot in the 9500 block of East 16th Street. Officers found a victim with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.
2. The reported shooting location was outside the stadium
IndyStar placed the incident in a parking lot outside the stadium at Warren Central High School. The school’s official address is 9500 E. 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229, according to its official website. The address confirms the school location; it does not independently confirm incident details.
3. A later report said two people were injured
The initial IndyStar account referred to one victim. A later WISH-TV report republished by Conven.org attributed an update to IMPD Captain Don Weilhammer: a boy was in serious condition and a girl was stable at area hospitals. That report said their identities and ages were not immediately available. The reports therefore reflect an initial one-victim description followed by a later update about two injured people, not a single confirmed count reported at the same time.
