Choose Wachete if you want hosted page monitoring that keeps running while your devices are off, or if its stated support for dynamic pages, login-required pages, files, and chat alerts fits your workflow. Choose Distill.io if you want to choose between local checks on your own device and cloud checks on Distill’s servers, and can match its plan limits and check cadence to your workload. Neither is a universal winner: the better fit depends on where checks run, how complex the page is, how often you need checks, and which alerts and history you need.
How Wachete and Distill.io differ
Both services monitor a web page or selected content for changes and can alert you. Their central difference is execution: Wachete presents its monitoring as hosted, so checks can continue with your phone and computer off. Distill offers local and cloud monitors. Local checks depend on your device; cloud checks run on Distill’s servers. See Wachete and Distill’s supported platforms documentation.

You need monitoring to continue with your devices off
Wachete describes hosted monitoring that runs around the clock without leaving a phone or computer on. This is a straightforward fit when you do not want a local browser or machine to be part of the monitoring setup.

You need to watch selected content or complex sources
Wachete says it can watch a whole page, a selected region, or whole sites; handle dynamic and login-protected pages; and track changes in supported document files. Its filters can ignore noisy sections, and it describes formulas for combining values. These are Wachete’s stated features, so test your target page and access requirements before depending on them. Details are on Wachete’s features page.
You need a particular alert route or longer-term history
Wachete lists email, phone notifications, Slack, Teams, Discord, and Telegram, plus text or numeric conditions and daily or weekly digests. It says it retains up to 12 months of history; numeric-value charts can go back up to five years. Spreadsheet downloads and integrations including Zapier, API, and webhooks are also listed. Confirm that the precise channel and retention you need are available on your plan.

When Distill.io is the better fit
You want control over local versus cloud execution
Distill lets you use local monitors through browser extensions or desktop apps, or cloud monitors that run on its servers. Its documentation says a local browser check requires the browser to stay open, while cloud monitoring continues without the browser open. Distill documents mode- and plan-dependent intervals; its materials include a two-minute minimum for the Web app on Flexi and five seconds for the browser add-on. Those minimums are specific to the stated mode and plan, not universal guarantees. Check supported platforms and what Distill is for current details.

Distill lists visual selection, alert conditions, version history, JSON and CSV export, automation, custom proxies, and API access on request. It also lists PDF and private-page monitoring. Which functions and quotas apply can depend on plan and configuration; consult Distill’s features page.

- Used Book in Good Condition
You need mobile access or push alerts
Distill’s app page says smartphone apps let paid customers view updates and receive push notifications, while monitors run on a computer or server rather than the phone. The same page describes its desktop app as public beta, so verify current availability and status before choosing it as a requirement: Distill web monitor app.
Compare plans against your actual monitoring workload
Do not choose by monitor count alone. Check how many checks your schedule consumes, whether the selected mode is local or cloud, and which alert methods and history the plan includes. Distill’s homepage displayed a free start with 25 local monitors, 5 cloud monitors, a six-hour alert frequency, 1,000 checks per month, and 30 email alerts when retrieved. These are changeable provider-published allowances, not permanent terms. Distill’s pricing page shows plan-dependent limits for email and push alerts and version history: Distill and Distill pricing.

- THREAT DETECTION – Stay one step ahead. Suspicious links, risky sites, viruses, and scams, caught automatically before they reach you.
- PERSONAL INFO PROTECTION – Keep your personal info safer. Identity monitoring watches for your exposed info and tells you what to do about it.
- SECURE CONNECTIONS – Just a few easy clicks, and we'll automatically protect your info on public Wi‑Fi, every time you connect.
- GUIDED ACTION – Know what matters and what to do next. Clear alerts and simple guidance make it easy to take action.
- MORE THAN ANTIVIRUS – Scam protection, identity monitoring, VPN, web protection, and antivirus work together to protect you, all in one place.
Wachete says users can start free without a credit card; the retrieved homepage text does not provide matching numeric tier limits. Its feature page says users can choose how often to check, but the available information here does not establish a directly comparable full quota schedule. Review Wachete’s current site and its features alongside Distill’s live plan details before committing. Plan limits, pricing, and feature availability can change.
How to decide for your page
- Decide where checks must run. If monitoring must continue while your devices are off, compare Wachete’s hosted approach with Distill cloud monitoring. If you prefer checks on your own device, Distill’s local mode may fit, provided that device and browser requirements work for you.
- Identify the page’s hard parts. Note whether it is dynamic, login-protected, frequently updated in irrelevant sections, or actually a document such as a PDF. Treat support claims as a starting point and validate your specific page.
- Calculate cadence and volume. Estimate checks per monitor over a month, then compare the service’s current interval rules, check quotas, and cloud/local allowances. Do not interpret a minimum interval listed for one mode or plan as applying to all configurations.
- Verify the alert and record you need. Confirm that the plan includes your desired channel, alert quota, retention period, export format, or integration. A listed integration does not by itself establish that it is included in every plan.
- Try the setup on a representative page. Check that the selected region is stable, conditions suppress irrelevant changes, and notifications arrive as expected before relying on it for a critical change.
ScreenshotNeo is an alternative when you need a screenshot, not ongoing change alerts
Wachete and Distill are page-change monitors. If your task is instead to capture a page as an image or PDF on demand, try ScreenshotNeo first. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server, rather than a substitute for scheduled change monitoring.
For example, one GET request can return a screenshot. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and response details:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie or consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server offers AI agents the tools take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

Common selection mistakes
- Assuming local checks run unattended. Distill’s local browser checks require the browser to remain open. Choose a cloud option if your computer cannot stay available.
- Assuming every page works automatically. Dynamic content, login requirements, and frequently changing regions may require configuration; provider feature claims do not guarantee success for every site.
- Comparing monitor counts without check quotas. A monitor checked frequently can consume more of a plan’s check allowance than one checked occasionally. Compare the full workload and current plan terms.
- Assuming a listed alert channel is unlimited or included. Alert methods and quotas can vary by plan; verify the exact service terms before building a workflow around them.
- Choosing based on an app label that may change. Distill describes its desktop app as public beta in its app information; confirm availability and status when signing up.
