If a larger inner screen, a high-capacity battery and fast listed charging matter most, the vivo X Fold6 has the stronger headline specifications. If you want Samsung’s current foldable generation, compare it with the Galaxy Z Fold8, whose New Zealand specification page lists a 7.6-inch main display and Android 17 with One UI 9. Neither spec sheet establishes which phone lasts longer, takes better photos or is more durable in real use. Your best choice also depends on local availability, carrier compatibility, warranty and total price.
This comparison uses the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, announced in August 2026, as the current Samsung model. Samsung said sales began in select markets on August 7 and would expand globally; that does not mean it is available in every country. The vivo figures below come from vivo’s regional specification page and likewise do not establish that the X Fold6 is sold or supported where you live. Choose the X Fold6 if its larger display and charging setup fit your priorities
More listed screen area for unfolded use
The X Fold6’s listed 8.02-inch inner display is larger than the Fold8’s 7.6-inch main screen. That difference may matter if you expect to read, watch video or work with multiple apps on the unfolded phone. Diagonal size alone does not tell you which screen is more comfortable: aspect ratio, app behavior, brightness and your preferred grip also matter, and the cited specifications do not compare those experiences.

Higher stated battery capacity and charging wattage
vivo lists a 6,900mAh typical-equivalent battery and charging up to 80W wired and 40W wireless under its stated conditions. These are specifications, not proof of longer battery life or a particular charging time. Actual endurance and charging behavior depend on use and conditions, while an included charger is a separate question from the phone’s maximum supported charging rate.
A substantial camera specification, not a confirmed photo-quality win
The X Fold6 lists a 200MP main camera, a 50MP wide-angle camera, a 50MP periscope camera and two 20MP front cameras. Those counts describe hardware resolution, not the quality of finished photos or video. The official materials reviewed do not provide same-condition image comparisons against the Fold8.

Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 if you want Samsung’s current Fold generation
Samsung’s current model and listed software
The Fold8 is the Samsung comparison point here because Samsung announced it in August 2026. Samsung New Zealand lists Android 17 with One UI 9, alongside Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. The vivo page lists Android 17 with OriginOS 7 Fold and the same Wi-Fi and Bluetooth generations. These labels do not establish which device has the better features, update commitment or regional software experience; check the terms and functions offered in the market where you will use the phone.

Brand familiarity alone is not evidence of better support or value: compare the actual warranty, repair options and software-support terms available to you.

Do not decide on battery life, photos or durability from a spec sheet
- Battery life: a stated capacity does not show screen-on time or endurance under your workload. The official pages cited here are not matched battery tests.
- Camera results: megapixel counts and camera labels do not establish image quality, stabilization or video performance across conditions. No comparative image test is provided by these sources.
- Water and dust resistance: IP58, IP59, IPX8 and IPX9 on vivo’s page and IP48 on Samsung’s page are not interchangeable guarantees. Read the complete regional footnotes; Samsung notes its freshwater test and that resistance can diminish with wear, while vivo warns resistance is not permanent.
- Hinge, crease and repairability: the cited manufacturer specifications do not establish comparative hinge durability, crease visibility or repairability. Do not treat a rating or materials list as a substitute for independent testing.
Check local fit and total cost before buying
- Confirm the exact model and region. Make sure the phone is officially sold in your country and identify the exact regional configuration and storage tier. Samsung’s rollout began in select markets; vivo’s regional specification page does not prove local stock or support.
- Verify carrier compatibility. Check the exact model number against your carrier’s supported bands and features, including the services you need. vivo explicitly says network functionality depends on carrier availability, laws, infrastructure and software; do not assume that a listed band guarantees every local feature.
- Compare the complete purchase cost. Use local prices for the same storage tier, then account for warranty and repair coverage, and whether you need to buy a charger, cable or case separately. The cited sources do not establish matched prices for your market.
- Check software and service terms locally. Confirm update commitments, warranty exclusions, service locations and any region-specific differences directly with the manufacturer or seller before importing or purchasing.
- Look for independent, same-condition tests if performance is decisive. For battery life, photos, display behavior, hinge durability or repairability, seek tests that compare the exact regional models under consistent conditions; the official pages cited here do not settle those questions.
Which foldable is right for you?
On published specifications alone, the vivo X Fold6 is the more compelling starting point if the larger listed inner display and its stated battery and charging figures are your priorities. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is the relevant Samsung choice if you specifically want Samsung’s current Fold model and its locally supported software and services. Treat either as a conditional choice: confirm availability, network compatibility, price, warranty and service in your country before deciding.
