The vivo S2 5G launched in India at ₹39,999 for 8GB/128GB, while the same-capacity vivo V50 launched at ₹34,999. That makes the S2 ₹5,000 more expensive at like-for-like launch prices. The S2’s published specifications emphasize a larger, higher-resolution display and a bigger battery; the V50 lists faster charging and a more versatile rear-camera setup. These are specification differences, not proof of which phone takes better photos or lasts longer in everyday use.
India launch prices: which phone cost less?
At launch in India, the V50’s 8GB/128GB configuration was ₹5,000 less than the S2’s matching configuration. The prices below are historical launch prices announced by vivo, not guaranteed current offers. vivo’s V50 launch announcement said sales would begin February 25, 2025, through vivo’s website, Flipkart, Amazon and partner retail stores. The S2 launch announcement listed sales from August 11, 2026, through the same channels and cautioned that price and availability may vary by retailer or platform.

For a current buying decision, compare listings for the same RAM and storage configuration, seller, stock status and offer conditions. A third-party comparison page recorded ₹32,991 for the V50 at Flipkart and ₹39,900 for the S2 at Amazon when accessed; these are volatile observations, not confirmed live prices or a like-for-like offer. The V50 figures come from vivo India’s V50 specification page. The S2 figures are from vivo’s launch announcement unless otherwise noted. Refresh-rate availability can vary by app, and the 3000-nit figure vivo gives for the S2 is a local peak brightness claim. Specifications can differ by market, so confirm the exact model and configuration offered where you plan to buy.

Display: the S2 is larger and higher-resolution on paper
The S2 has a 6.83-inch curved AMOLED panel with a stated 1.5K resolution, compared with the V50’s 6.77-inch, 2392 × 1080 AMOLED screen. Both are listed for up to 120Hz. The S2’s larger diagonal and higher published resolution may matter if screen size and pixel detail are priorities, but specifications alone do not establish which panel looks better in person. vivo also describes the S2 as HDR10+ capable and gives it up to 3000 nits of local peak brightness; that is not a claim of sustained full-screen brightness.
Cameras: hardware differs, but image quality is untested
The V50 has a more clearly specified multi-purpose rear setup: a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 50MP autofocus ultrawide camera. Its front camera is 50MP with autofocus. vivo lists the S2 with a 50MP main camera, a 2MP secondary rear camera and a 32MP front camera. The available S2 specifications do not identify its 2MP secondary camera as an ultrawide, so it should not be treated as equivalent to the V50’s ultrawide.

Those differences describe camera hardware, not a tested photo-quality ranking. Resolution and camera count alone do not determine detail, color, low-light results, stabilization or video quality; no standardized head-to-head camera test establishes a winner here.
Battery and charging: capacity favors the S2, charging wattage the V50
vivo lists a 7050mAh battery and 44W charging for the S2, versus 6000mAh and up to 90W FlashCharge for the V50. The S2 therefore has the higher rated capacity, while the V50 has the higher rated wired charging power. Capacity does not guarantee longer runtime, and wattage alone does not establish a phone’s actual charge time; usage, software, temperature and charging conditions also matter.

Performance, durability and software support
Performance
The V50 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, while the S2 uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo built on a 4nm process. vivo claims up to 970,000 AnTuTu points for the S2, but that is a manufacturer-stated maximum, not an independent result or a directly comparable head-to-head test. Chip names and a vendor benchmark claim are not enough to rank overall speed, gaming or sustained performance.
Durability
vivo lists IP68 and IP69 ratings for the V50. For the S2, vivo says the IP68/IP69 rating is based on controlled laboratory conditions. These ratings should not be read as a promise that either phone is waterproof or immune to damage in every real-world situation.

Software and updates
The V50 specification page lists Android 15 and Funtouch OS 15. vivo says the S2 runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 and promises three years of Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates. That stated commitment is specific to the S2 announcement; the V50 specification page does not state an update duration. Software names and versions may vary by region.

- Consider the V50 if its lower like-for-like launch price, 50MP ultrawide rear camera, 50MP autofocus selfie camera or 90W charging better match your priorities.
- Consider the S2 if you value its larger, higher-resolution display, higher rated battery capacity, or the OS and security update commitment vivo announced for it.
- Compare current offers before deciding: launch prices do not show what either phone costs now. Check the exact storage variant, seller and offer terms, and do not assume different retailers’ listed prices are directly comparable.
Neither specification sheet settles everyday battery life, camera quality or overall performance. For those questions, seek independent tests of the exact regional models rather than treating component specifications as test results.
