Which phone has the better display?
The Redmi Note 17 5G has the larger, AMOLED panel on Xiaomi’s global specification page: 6.99 inches, compared with the vivo T5x’s 6.76-inch LCD. vivo specifies a 2344 × 1080 resolution, refresh rate up to 120Hz, and 1200-nit HBM brightness. Xiaomi lists FHD+ resolution and 1800-nit peak brightness, but the two brightness figures use different labels and should not be treated as a directly comparable measurement. Xiaomi also lists Corning Gorilla Glass 7i; that does not by itself establish comparative drop or scratch performance.
Which has the bigger battery, and which charges faster?
Xiaomi lists a 7700mAh battery for the Redmi Note 17 5G, versus 7200mAh for the vivo T5x. That is a higher stated capacity for Xiaomi, not proof that it lasts longer between charges: actual runtime also depends on factors such as display use, network conditions, software, and workload. No comparable battery-runtime test is established by the cited specifications.

The listed charging ratings are close: 45W turbo charging for Xiaomi and 44W charging for vivo. These nominal wattages do not establish which phone reaches a given charge level sooner; no directly comparable charging-time result is provided.

How do the chipsets and software compare?
vivo lists the MediaTek Dimensity 7400-Turbo, with an eight-core CPU and a 4nm process. Xiaomi lists the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. These are different platforms, but the manufacturer specifications do not show which phone performs better in games, apps, or sustained workloads. No reliable head-to-head benchmark result is established here.

The vivo India page lists Android 16 with Origin OS 6.0. Xiaomi’s global page lists HyperOS and advertises six years of security updates. The cited vivo parameter page does not establish an equivalent update-duration commitment, so the published information is not enough to compare support longevity on equal terms. Check the support policy for the exact country and device SKU before buying.

Xiaomi’s India specifications page lists storage expansion up to 2TB and includes an adapter, USB Type-C cable, protective case, and pre-applied screen protector among the box contents. Check the exact India-market configuration and package before relying on those details. The global page’s other specifications should not be used as a substitute for confirmation of India-specific bands or SKU details.

A reliable current price difference cannot be stated from the available official listings. vivo’s India store surfaced a 6GB+128GB listing at ₹27,999 and an 8GB+256GB SKU page at ₹34,999, but a separate 6GB+128GB page displayed ₹45,999. The inconsistency means these are not a dependable current price comparison. Xiaomi’s cited official pages do not establish a comparable current India retail price for the Redmi Note 17 5G.
Before deciding on value, compare live listings for the same country and matching RAM/storage tier, and distinguish the regular listed price from a sale price or a particular seller’s offer. - You have checked a current price for the exact configuration and it is more attractive to you than the matching Redmi option.
