For India-market models, the vivo T5 5G has the sharper, higher-refresh AMOLED display and more versatile listed camera hardware; the Xiaomi REDMI 17 5G has the larger listed battery and a slightly higher wired-charging rating. A third-party price snapshot showed the Xiaomi at a lower price, but it does not verify what either phone costs today. Compare live prices for matching memory configurations before deciding.

These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent comparative test results. Xiaomi notes that configurations can differ by region; listed network bands may also vary by region and operator.
Which phone has the better display?
The vivo T5 5G has the higher-resolution panel: its 6.83-inch curved AMOLED is listed as 1.5K and supports up to 144 Hz. Xiaomi’s REDMI 17 5G has the slightly larger diagonal at 6.9 inches, but its display is HD+ and rated up to 120 Hz. If screen sharpness, AMOLED technology, or the higher refresh-rate ceiling is your priority, the specifications favor vivo. If you mainly want a larger screen, Xiaomi has the edge in size.
Brightness figures are not directly equivalent: vivo cites a local peak-brightness claim, while Xiaomi lists HBM brightness. Those numbers describe different conditions and should not be treated as a controlled head-to-head measurement.

Which has the bigger battery and faster charging?
Xiaomi lists a 7900 mAh typical battery, compared with vivo’s 7050 mAh typical capacity. That is an 850 mAh difference on the published typical-capacity figures, not a measured runtime advantage. Screen, software, network conditions, settings, and usage all affect how long a phone lasts.
Xiaomi’s listed wired charging rating is 45 W; vivo lists up to 44 W. The small difference in rated output does not establish which phone charges faster in practice. Charging time depends on conditions, and these ratings are not a side-by-side charging test. Xiaomi also lists up to 22.5 W wired reverse charging and says the adapter is included in the India package.

How do the cameras differ?
On paper, vivo offers the more flexible rear setup: a 50 MP Sony IMX882 main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), plus an 8 MP ultrawide camera. Xiaomi lists a 50 MP main camera and an auxiliary lens. For selfies, vivo lists 32 MP and Xiaomi 8 MP; vivo also lists front and rear video recording at 4K/30 fps.
These specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos or video. Megapixel counts and lens descriptions cannot substitute for image-quality testing across daylight, low light, stabilization, and video conditions.

What the listed benchmark does—and does not—show
vivo reports an AnTuTu Benchmark V11 score of 1,202,592 from its own laboratory test using the 12 GB RAM + 256 GB ROM edition. vivo says the result is for reference and can vary by configuration and environment. The figure is not an independently produced head-to-head result, so it cannot establish that the T5 is faster than the REDMI 17 5G in everyday use or across different workloads. No comparable independent score for both phones is established here.
Water resistance and software support
vivo lists IP68/IP69 protection and describes a fresh-water immersion condition on its product page. Xiaomi lists IP64 and cautions against complete immersion. Neither rating means a phone is damage-proof; exposure conditions, wear, and damage can affect protection.

For India, vivo states three generations of Android OS upgrades and five years of security patches. Xiaomi’s India product page states four years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the REDMI 17 5G. Check the applicable regional product page and terms when buying elsewhere, since policy and specifications may vary by market.

A 91mobiles comparison search-result snapshot surfaced prices of ₹34,999 for the vivo T5 5G and ₹23,999 for the REDMI 17 5G—a ₹11,000 gap in that snapshot, with Xiaomi lower. These are third-party figures, not prices verified on a live retailer listing or by either manufacturer. The official pages reviewed do not establish current selling prices.

Before treating that gap as a value comparison, check current listings in your region and match RAM, storage, seller, and offer conditions. Price and availability can change, and the cited snapshot does not establish today’s price or whether both figures refer to equivalent configurations.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the vivo T5 5G on specifications if you prioritize a sharper AMOLED display, a higher listed refresh rate, an OIS main camera with an ultrawide, a higher-resolution front camera, or the higher stated water-and-dust rating.
- Choose the REDMI 17 5G on specifications if you prioritize a larger listed battery, a slightly higher wired-charging rating, reverse wired charging, a headphone jack, or microSD expansion.
- Compare live prices before buying if value is the deciding factor. The available price snapshot is not a verified current quote, and the phones’ listed memory configurations differ.
Neither specification sheet alone settles real-world battery life, camera quality, durability, or overall performance. Choose based on the features you will use, then verify the exact India-market variant, current price, and seller terms.
