The vivo T4 Ultra is the stronger on-paper fit for a dedicated 3x periscope camera, a higher-listed charging rate and a more powerful-sounding chipset specification. The Redmi Note 17 5G stands out for its larger stated battery, reverse wired charging and lower observed price for the listed entry configuration. The official India store prices reviewed were ₹37,999 for the vivo 12GB+256GB model and ₹27,999 for the Redmi 6GB+128GB model—a ₹10,000 gap between different memory tiers, not a like-for-like comparison.

The figures below come from the manufacturers’ India pages: vivo T4 Ultra parameters, Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G specifications and Xiaomi’s product page. They are published specifications, not results from an independent head-to-head test.

What the camera and processor specifications tell you
Camera hardware
The T4 Ultra’s listed rear setup includes a distinct 3x periscope camera as well as a main and ultrawide camera. That gives it a more explicit long-zoom hardware option on paper than the Redmi’s listed 50MP main-camera arrangement. The Redmi front camera is listed at 8MP, compared with 32MP for vivo. Megapixel counts and lens labels do not establish which phone takes better photos; image processing, low-light performance, stabilization and video quality need comparable independent testing.

The listed chipsets and core specifications are materially different, but their names alone do not quantify everyday speed, sustained performance, heat or gaming results. The manufacturer pages do not provide a comparable benchmark or thermal test, so treat the T4 Ultra as the performance-oriented choice only in the limited sense of its published chipset specification—not as a proven faster phone in every task.

Battery capacity and charging are different trade-offs
Xiaomi lists an 8,000mAh typical battery for the Redmi Note 17 5G, compared with 5,500mAh typical for the T4 Ultra. Capacity favors Xiaomi on paper, but it does not establish screen-on time or days of use: display settings, network conditions, software and workload affect endurance.
The charging specifications point the other way: vivo lists 90W charging, while Xiaomi lists 45W wired charging. Xiaomi additionally lists 22.5W wired reverse charging, which can let the phone supply power to another compatible device. Wattage and capacity are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of charging time or battery life.

Price difference: the listed models are not equivalent
When accessed on October 7, 2026, the vivo India store listing displayed ₹37,999 for the T4 Ultra 12GB+256GB and showed ₹42,999 as MRP. Xiaomi’s official Redmi product list displayed ₹27,999 for the Redmi Note 17 5G Arctic Blue 6GB+128GB and ₹39,999 as its marketing price.
The displayed selling-price gap is ₹10,000, but the vivo listing has twice the RAM and twice the storage of the Redmi listing. Those prices are volatile snapshots, not guaranteed current prices or a clean value comparison. Check live availability and compare matching RAM and storage tiers, seller, region and date before deciding which costs less for equivalent capacity.

Software support and protection claims
Xiaomi’s product material says the Redmi Note 17 5G runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3 and claims four years of Android OS updates and six years of security updates. Treat that duration as Xiaomi’s published policy claim; it is not independently audited here. The reviewed vivo parameter page identifies Android 15 and Funtouch OS 15 but does not establish an equivalent update-support duration, so the available information does not support a direct comparison of support longevity.
Xiaomi’s product page claims IP65 protection and Gorilla Glass 7i, while vivo lists IP64. These are manufacturer claims; check the product documentation and warranty terms for the exact protection conditions rather than interpreting an IP rating as protection against every kind of water or dust exposure.

Which phone fits your priorities?
- Consider the T4 Ultra on paper if you value a dedicated 3x periscope camera, the listed Dimensity 9300+ chipset or the higher listed charging wattage. These specifications do not substitute for independent camera, performance or charging tests.
- Consider the Redmi Note 17 5G on paper if its larger stated battery capacity, wired reverse charging or the lower observed price for the 6GB+128GB listing matters more. Capacity alone does not predict real-world runtime.
- For a fair price decision, compare equivalent memory configurations at the same seller and time. The observed prices above compare different tiers and may change with stock or offers.
- For camera quality, sustained speed, heat or battery life, look for independent tests using comparable methods; official specifications cannot settle those real-world questions.
