Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallIf Visualping missed a website update, start in the monitor’s Check History: confirm that a check ran after the change, then verify what the monitor captured and whether its alert criteria matched. If the dashboard shows a detected change but you received no email, troubleshoot notification delivery separately. Visualping checks pages on a schedule, so it cannot alert before a check evaluates the changed page.
1. Confirm a check ran after the website changed
Open the monitor in Visualping and review its Check History. Compare the check timestamps with when you believe the site changed. A scheduled check must run after the update for Visualping to compare the new page with its earlier capture. The alert may therefore arrive later than the change itself, depending on the monitor’s schedule. See Visualping’s Navigating Alerts and basic monitoring job guide.
- No check after the change: Confirm that the monitor is active and review its schedule. A monitor that is paused, inactive, or scheduled for a later time has not yet evaluated the update.
- A check ran before the change: Wait for the next scheduled check, or adjust the schedule if you need changes detected sooner. Monitoring is periodic, not an instant notification of every edit.
- A check ran afterward: Continue to the capture and detection checks below.
2. Check whether the monitor is local or cloud-based
A local monitor depends on your device and browser: Chrome must remain open for it to keep checking. A cloud monitor runs on Visualping’s servers and does not require your computer to stay on. If checks stopped while your computer was off or Chrome was closed, verify whether the monitor is configured for local monitoring. Visualping explains this distinction in its alert guidance.
3. Verify that Visualping is monitoring the changed content
A check can succeed yet miss an update if the monitored area does not include it. In the monitor’s preview and settings, confirm whether it watches the whole page or a selected element, and make sure the changed text or image falls inside that area.

- If the selection tool did not identify the intended content, try a direct XPath, class, or other selector supported by the setup interface.
- Consider whether the content is inside an
iframe. An element embedded in a frame may not be captured as expected by a selection aimed at the outer page. - If the change is below the fold or appears only after scrolling, inspect the preview and configure a scroll action where appropriate.
Visualping’s monitor setup guide covers selection, page actions, and limitations that can affect what a check captures.
4. Inspect loading, page actions, and access restrictions
Dynamic pages may need time or an interaction before the relevant content appears. Review the check preview for warnings and inspect whether configured pre-actions succeeded. Login gates, pop-ups, consent banners, dropdowns, and content that loads after scrolling can all change what the monitor sees.
- Use the available page-action tools when a click, scroll, or other interaction is needed to reveal the target content.
- Review failed pre-actions and any preview warnings; a failed action can leave the page in the wrong state for comparison.
- If a bot check, security challenge, or geographic restriction blocks the crawler, Visualping suggests trying its Basic Proxy or a checking location in the site’s country. It also suggests reviewing the “Block ads and cookies” advanced setting. These are troubleshooting options, not a guarantee that the site will allow monitoring.
For the relevant setup advice, see Visualping’s basic monitoring guide.

5. Review the change-detection criteria
The page may have changed without meeting the monitor’s selected criteria. If you want the monitor to flag any change, Visualping’s setup guide offers an “Any changes” choice. That can also create more false alerts. If the monitor is too noisy or overlooks a meaningful update, refine its prompt and focus area. Avoid volatile regions such as ads or counters when they are not relevant to your goal. See the setup guide and notification overview.
6. Separate a missed detection from a missing email
First check whether the change appears in Visualping’s dashboard. If it does, detection worked; the remaining issue is notification delivery. If it does not, continue investigating the check, captured content, and criteria instead of treating an absent email as proof that the page was not checked.

- In the monitor’s Notifications tab, confirm that email is enabled for that monitor.
- Check whether the workspace is muted and whether another workspace member received the alert.
- Look in spam or junk folders and review any email filtering rules.
- If settings appear correct, Visualping says an alert can still be suppressed by system configuration or fail the job’s alert settings. Contact Visualping support with the page URL or job name, what changed, and when.
Visualping says email is enabled by default, but check the specific monitor rather than relying on a default. Its notification overview also lists channels including CC email, SMS, webhook, n8n, Telegram, API, MCP, Slack, Google Sheets, Microsoft Teams, Discord, and RSS. Availability depends on channel and plan, so verify the options shown for your monitor in the current interface. See Navigating Alerts and the notification overview.
7. Check error alerts for failed or blocked crawls
If Visualping reports a site error or crawler block, review the separate “Alert on Website Error” setting. Visualping documents interval-dependent examples for monitors without prior error-alert configuration: five consecutive failures for a five-minute schedule and three for a daily schedule. Explicitly disabling the option keeps error alerts off. Defaults and behavior can change, so confirm the current setting and wording in your monitor rather than assuming an error alert is enabled.

If you need a clean screenshot to inspect a page yourself, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. It is not a replacement for diagnosing a Visualping monitor or configuring its alerts. One GET request can return an image or PDF; this cURL example saves a WebP screenshot of a page:
ScreenshotNeo API documentation
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter pop-ups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Frequently Asked Questions
Why did Visualping check the page but not send an alert?
Check whether the change appears in the dashboard. If it does, review the monitor’s email setting, workspace mute status, spam filtering, and other workspace members’ notifications; if the change does not appear, investigate capture and detection criteria.
Can Visualping detect a change immediately when it happens?
No. The page is evaluated on the monitor’s schedule, so a check must run after the change before Visualping can detect it.
Does a Visualping local monitor keep checking when Chrome is closed?
No. Local monitoring requires Chrome to remain open; cloud monitoring runs on Visualping’s servers.
