Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesNeither Verizon 5G Home nor AT&T Internet Air is a universal winner: both deliver home internet over a cellular network, and eligibility and performance depend on your exact address. Check each provider’s availability and live checkout quote, then compare actual local performance—especially at busy hours—before replacing cable or fiber.
How the two services compare
| Factor | AT&T Internet Air | Verizon 5G Home |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Home internet over AT&T’s 5G network. | Home internet over Verizon’s cellular network. |
| Availability | Limited; eligibility must be checked by service address. General 5G coverage does not establish Internet Air eligibility. AT&T Internet Air | Not offered at every location with 5G Ultra Wideband cellular coverage; check the service address. Verizon 5G Home |
| Published speed information | The reviewed residential product and plan pages do not state a numeric speed range. | Verizon lists download ceilings of up to 100 Mbps for 5G Home, 150 Mbps for 5G Home Plus, and 300 Mbps for 5G Home Ultimate. These are provider claims, not independent test results; actual speeds vary with cellular conditions. Verizon 5G Home |
| Price information | Starts at $55 per month plus taxes and fees, with AutoPay and paperless billing required; availability is limited. AT&T Internet Air | Plan pricing is presented dynamically and may depend on address and discounts, including AutoPay or mobile bundling. Use the address-specific checkout quote rather than an unqualified headline price. Verizon 5G Home |
| Data and congestion | Advertises unlimited data with no overage charges, but says speeds may be temporarily slowed when the network is busy. In rare cases where a customer’s usage contributes to congestion, AT&T says it may greatly reduce speed for at least 30 minutes. AT&T Internet Air | Verizon refers customers to its customer agreement for usage restrictions. Verizon 5G Home |
| Equipment and setup | Includes an AT&T All-Fi Hub and advertises $0 self-setup. AT&T Internet Air | Router/gateway is included and owned by Verizon; service terms require its return when you disconnect. Ultimate includes whole-home Wi-Fi features and an optional extender. Verizon 5G Home |
Which one is better at your address?
The choice turns on local eligibility, total cost, and how each connection performs in your home. National coverage maps and advertised maximums cannot tell you whether a signal will be strong and consistent at your particular location. Nor do the providers’ product pages offer a controlled head-to-head test.
Choose based on what you can verify
- Check both service addresses. Use each provider’s address lookup. A nearby 5G signal—or even Ultra Wideband coverage—does not guarantee that the corresponding home service is offered at your location.
- Compare checkout totals. Record the monthly amount, taxes and fees, required billing settings, any mobile-bundle condition, and how long a promotion lasts. Verizon’s displayed offer can vary; AT&T’s advertised starting price excludes taxes and fees and requires AutoPay and paperless billing.
- Look beyond download speed. If possible, test a trial or otherwise observe the service where it will be used. Compare download and upload speeds, latency, and consistency at the times your household is online—particularly evenings or other busy periods.
- Match the connection to your household. Video calls, gaming, large uploads, and several simultaneous streams can be affected by upload performance, latency, and congestion, not just a peak download figure.
- Review the terms and equipment details. Check network-management language, video features, setup expectations, and return requirements before switching.
What the advertised speeds do—and do not—tell you
Verizon publishes tier-specific download ceilings; AT&T’s reviewed product and plan pages do not provide a matching residential speed range. That means the available official figures do not support a numeric speed comparison between the two services. Verizon’s “up to” figures are plan claims, not a promise that a home will receive those speeds. Verizon says performance varies with cellular-network factors. Verizon’s plan details
For either provider, cellular conditions at the home and network load can affect the experience. If the service is eligible, use observed performance at your address to decide whether it can handle your household’s work, streaming, gaming, and upload needs. Do not treat general 5G coverage or a plan maximum as a substitute for that check.

Price, rate guarantees, and the real monthly bill
AT&T Internet Air
AT&T advertises Internet Air starting at $55 per month, plus taxes and fees, with AutoPay and paperless billing required. The offer is not available everywhere. AT&T also advertises no annual contract and no overage charges; confirm the current address-specific offer before ordering. AT&T Internet Air pricing and features
Verizon 5G Home
Verizon describes base-rate guarantees of three years for 5G Home, four years for 5G Home Plus, and five years for 5G Home Ultimate. The guarantee applies to the then-current base monthly rate, not all elements of the bill: extra charges, discounts, promotions, perks, and third-party services are excluded. Because plan pricing and promotions are dynamic and may depend on the address or discounts, verify the current checkout quote and its conditions. Verizon 5G Home plan details

Unlimited data does not mean congestion never matters
AT&T advertises unlimited data and no overage charges, but it also discloses network management: speeds may be temporarily slowed when the network is busy. Separately, AT&T says that in rare cases, if a customer’s usage contributes to congestion, it may greatly reduce that customer’s speed for a minimum of 30 minutes. AT&T Internet Air disclosures
Verizon’s page points customers to its customer agreement for usage restrictions rather than establishing that congestion has no effect. Read the agreement for the plan you are considering; do not infer a specific data threshold or speed policy that the product page does not state. Verizon 5G Home

Equipment, video features, and switching
Both services include provider equipment, so this comparison does not require buying a generic modem. AT&T includes its All-Fi Hub and advertises self-setup at no charge. Verizon includes a router/gateway that it owns, and its terms require the equipment to be returned after service ends. Verizon Ultimate includes whole-home Wi-Fi features and an optional extender. Check the current plan details for feature availability and return instructions. AT&T Internet Air; Verizon 5G Home
Verizon describes video distinctions across its tiers, including HD/4K features. Those labels describe plan features, not guaranteed viewing quality: the connection’s actual performance and conditions still matter. When 5G home internet may not be the right replacement
If fiber or cable is available, compare its address-specific price and performance too. This comparison does not establish that either fixed-wireless service is better than a wired option. For households that need predictable performance for frequent large uploads, low-latency gaming, or many simultaneous users, evaluate the connection during real usage before canceling an existing service.
